Rajasthan Bye Election Result

A by-election (also spelled as "bye-election"), also known as a special election, is an election held to fill a political office that has become vacant between general elections. Usually, a by-election occurs when the incumbent has died or resigned. It may also occur when the incumbent becomes ineligible to continue in office, for example because of a recall, ennoblement, a serious criminal conviction, failure to maintain a minimum attendance, bankruptcy or mental incapacity.

List of Chief Ministers of Rajasthan
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, a north Indian state, is the head of the Government of Rajasthan. As per the Constitution of India, the Governor of Rajasthan is the state's de jure head, but de facto executive authority rests with the chief minister. Following elections to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, the governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government. The governor appoints the chief minister, whose council of ministers are collectively responsible to the assembly. Given that he has the confidence of the assembly, the chief minister's term is for five years and is subject to no term limits. Click here for Complete list of Rajasthan CM

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot said the bypolls showed that the ruling BJP had lost public faith in just half of its five year term. The Congress was gaining public confidence and it would continue till the next assembly polls in 2018, Pilot said.

A BJP spokesman said it was a routine bypoll and it did not reflet the performance of the Raje government. Most people were with the BJP, and would make the party win the next assembly elections, he said.

Many people do not step out of their houses to cast votes, but more than 900 Tausar villagers — working in Hyderabad — travelled 1,700 km to reach their homes on Thursday to vote in the sarpanch election.

The village, located about four km from the district headquarters, goes to the by-poll on Friday to elect a sarpanch. The poll was necessitated following death of Mishri Lal Sankhla four months ago.

“We are very excited to elect our new sarpanch. We will vote for a candidate who will convince us that he will steer the village on development path,” said Mahesh Sankhla, who works in Hyderabad. “Better drainage system, arranging English teachers for the village school are some of our demands,” he said, adding that four contenders had visited Hyderabad to woo voters.

There are 7,159 voters, including 3,474 women, in the village. Eight polling stations have been set up for the poll, an official said.

Nagaur sub-divisional magistrate P Ratiksha Pilania said for the first time, electronic voting machines would be used in a sarpanch election in the state.

The Congress has only 23 MLAs and Morarka will need 18 more to win. The number of Independents and Others are 16.
