A by-election (also spelled as "bye-election"), also known as a special election, is an election held to fill a political office that has become vacant between general elections.
Usually, a by-election occurs when the incumbent has died or resigned. It may also occur when the incumbent becomes ineligible to continue in office, for example because of a recall, ennoblement, a serious criminal conviction, failure to maintain a minimum attendance, bankruptcy or mental incapacity.Click here for Complete Election Result..>>

PM is Singham for US: Modi,Narendra Modi on Friday hit out at Prime Minister ManmohanSingh, why he became a 'Singham' (lion) to benefit the interest of foreigners and not of India. |
![]() Faridabad, Haryana, Sept 28 (IBNS): Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said the country would like to know that why he became a 'Singham' (lion) to benefit the interest of foreigners and not of India."Only two times you became a Singham. The first time you became a Singham was at the time of Nuclear Deal and then during FDI in retail," Modi said while addressing a BJP public meeting here. Modi question the PM: "Why do you not become a Singham for India?""Why does the PM become active whenever there is election in the US? What is the connection?" Modi said. Linking the economic reforms with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Modi said: "Why the decision to implement FDI was taken on the second day of Sonia Gandhi's arrival from the US?"Pertinently, ´Singham´ is a Bollywood film where actor Ajay Devgn had played the character of a tough police inspector of the same name. India on Sept 14 threw open its doors to more foreign investment in retail, aviation and broadcast sectors, while also announcing disinvestment in four state-run industries in moves that were long seen as critical to revive flagging growth and confidence in Asia's third-biggest economy. The reforms, the came just a day after the government also announced cut to its fuel subsidy bill by announcing hikes in diesel prices and a limit to the number of subsidised LPG cylinders sold to households, were met a huge political backlash. UPA government´s key alliance partner Trinamool Congress (TMC) withdrew its support voicing opposition on the move.source:Sify.com |

RA Mehta on Wednesday said the Modi government's attitude will not come in the way of his work.Narendra Modi government's attitude will not be a challenge Gujarat Lokayukta. |
Ahmedabad: Jan 02, 2013 After the Supreme Court upheld the appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat, Justice (retd) RA Mehta on Wednesday said the Modi government's attitude will not come in the way of his work. "I don't think Modi government's attitude will be a challenge for Lokayukta," Mehta said in reply to a query by mediapersons. The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the appointment of the Lokayukta in Gujarat, dismissing state government's plea challenging Governor Dr Kamla Beniwal's decision to appoint Mehta without consulting it. "This is the victory of Supreme Court...It is not in dispute that we need Lokayukta in Gujarat and even government has accepted it," Mehta said. "Chief Justice's recommendations are always non-political. Matter was sub judice, hence I never spoke to media on this issue and I don't have any comment now too," he said. "I was indifferent...I was not supporting, nor contesting," he said replying to a query by reporters on why he never filed his reply either in the High Court or in the Supreme Court.
![]() To a question on how he would take charge, Mehta said, "I don't have to say anything. May be the government will notify in Gazette, I have no idea." The Gujarat Governor had appointed Justice (retd) RA Mehta as Lokayukta of the state in August 2011, by-passing the Narendra Modi-led BJP government which had kept the post vacant for the last seven years. source :IBNLive |

They are also known as Deputy Ministers. They are appointed to assist cabinet ministers. However, many times, they are given independent charge of their department. The Gujarat Chief Minister, saying no change on its policy in this regard,Gujarat remains an important state for American investment. |
![]() WASHINGTON: Observing that Gujarat remains an important state for its investment, the United States today said it would continue to engage with the Indian state across a broad range of issues including trade, investment, university linkages and people-to-people exchanges.
However, it refrained from making any comment on the just concluded Assembly elections in the state, terming it as a domestic Indian politics, and also on the issue of visa to Narendra Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister, saying there has been no change on its policy in this regard. "Gujarat remains an important state for American investment, and has shown itself to be a very welcoming environment where American businesses flourish," a State Department spokesperson said.
Describing it as a matter of "domestic Indian politics" the spokesperson refused to entertain any question on the just concluded Assembly elections in Gujarat. Next month a large American delegation led by US India Business Council (USIBC) is travelling to Ahmedabad to attend the "Vibrant Gujarat" summit. The delegation is likely to meet Gujarat Chief Minister Modi.
Meanwhile, prominent American newspapers reported the results of the Gujarat Assembly elections - which is rarely done by US dailies. "Modi wins 3rd term as state leader, setting stage for prime ministerial bid" headlined The Washington Post article.
The paper said that by this win Modi has bolstered his chances of leading the country's main opposition party into national elections scheduled for 2014. "Hailed for his pro-business image and for successfully inviting global corporations such as General Motors and Ford to set up large factories in Gujarat, in western India, Modi has delivered impressive economic growth in the state, averaging about 10 per cent a year. He has never faced allegations of corruption, a rarity among Indian politicians," the daily reported.
"Resounding Victory in Indian Vote Nudges Polarizing Figure Closer to a Larger Race," said the headline of the article in The New York Times. "The polarizing leader of the western state of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, inched closer to becoming the leading political challenger to India's dominant Gandhi family by winning a resounding re-election as chief minister," it said. |

Anticipatory bail was Rejected, Arrest BJP MLA For Election Day Firing In Gujarat Poll Firing,BJP MLA Jetha was arrested For firing Csae In the Gujarat Poll day. |
Vadodara, Sat Dec 29 2012 Jetha Bharwad, BJP MLA from Shehra in the Panchmahals, was arrested Friday after a court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in connection with the poll day firing that injured four persons. Bharwad had allegedly fired his bodyguard’s gun near a poll booth at Tarsang village in his constituency on December 17. The court rejected his bail plea primarily on the grounds that prima facie there was evidence against him, prosecutor A A Hasan said. “The court also noted that three of the four injured were still in critical condition,” said Hasan, adding that while rejecting the anticipatory bail plea, the judge noted that none of the four injured belonged to any political party. Godhra SP Sachin Badshah said Bharwad was arrested on charges of attempt to murder and possession of arms after his bail plea was rejected. |
