 Gujarat  Bye Election 2014

A by-election (also spelled as "bye-election"), also known as a special election, is an election held to fill a political office that has become vacant between general elections.

Usually, a by-election occurs when the incumbent has died or resigned. It may also occur when the incumbent becomes ineligible to continue in office, for example because of a recall, ennoblement, a serious criminal conviction, failure to maintain a minimum attendance, bankruptcy or mental incapacity.Click here for Complete Election Result..>>

Gujarat polls Tulika Patel meet with Media In Congress Face, Actress Tulika Meet media in Gujarat Election Compaign.

Ahmedabad, 16 December 2012

Gujarat Congress has not used picture of any of its party leaders in its Gujarat election campaign advertisements this time. The party roped in one small time actress Tulika, and used her in party’s TV and print advertisements.

Just a day before the final phase of polling, Gujarat Congress today presented its poll time ‘Brand ambassador’ Tulika Patel before the media in a quickly called press conference in Ahmedabad.

During the press conference, Tulika was constantly guided by Congress men sitting next to her on what answers she should deliver. Her replies were just token.

An actor and the face of Gujarat Congress during the election campaign Tulika surprisingly said that she was doing the Congress campaign for free. She said she would continue to believe in Congress till the end of her life.

When she was asked a question on leadership issue in Gujarat Congress, partymen took hold of the mic said that Congress had many capable leaders. The press meet was announced over later on.

BJP has criticized Congress on using the brand ambassador to win the elections.

Modi in his speeches said, “It is for the first time that in election campaign, Congress is not using the picture of Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Sonia, Rahul. This shows that these leaders wouldn’t work in Gujarat.”

Another BJP leader Shri Arun Jaitley has time and again said that there can be a brand ambassador for selling soap and shampoo, but here is a major political party that uses brand ambassador to carry its message to the voters.

Actor Paresh Rawal had recently said in his speech, ” This Tulika who seeks vote for Congress has in her interview to Chitralekha magazine openly said that she works for Congress party because of money, otherwise her family vote for BJP only.”

Final phase of voting today In Gujarat Poll; BJP, Congress confident of victory.

In Gujarat Election Secound and Final Phase Of Voting Today.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat is set for the second and final round of polling on Monday. The Bharatiya Janata Party has left no stones unturned as it remains apprehensive of a possible dent in its bastion of Saurashtra, courtesy rebel Keshubhai Patel's new party, the Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP). The first phase of voting saw a record 70.75 per cent turnout, with the Congress confident that the high turnout meant a certain "regime-change".

In the second phase, the following go to polls:

Maninagar: Chief Minister Narendra Modi's constituency will see suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's wife Shweta Bhatt challenging his might on a Congress ticket.

Gujarat elections: Final phase of voting today; BJP, Congress confident of victory

If the BJP wins, Narendra Modi, whose image towers over that of his party, could start playing a larger role in pan-India politics.

Naranpura: The constituency will see chargesheeted-former Gujrat home minister Amit Shah take on Congress's Jitubhai Patel.

Kapadwanj: will see Congress strongman Shankersinh Vaghela battle it out against BJP's Kanubhai Dabhi.

Akota: Saurabh Patel of the BJP will take on Lalit Patel of the Congress.

Ghatlodia: will see Anandiben Patel of the BJP against Rameshbhai Dudhwala of the Congress.

Sidhpur: will see Jay Narayan Vyas of the BJP against Balvantsinh Rajput of the Congress.

An estimated 19.8 million voters are eligible to take part in the nine-hour balloting in 95 of the 182 constituencies. The regions going to the polls include Kutch, north Gujarat and central Gujarat. "More than 70 per cent will vote in this phase too," asserted BJP Rajya Sabha member Natuji Thakor. "North Gujarat is Narendrabhai's (Modi) area. He is the son of the soil. People will vote overwhelmingly for him and the BJP." He added: "We are expecting more votes in central Gujarat than last time."

Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district has the maximum number of 18 candidates while Fatepura in Dahod district has just three - the least number. Abdasa is the largest assembly constituency (area wise) with 6,278 sq km territory and Ghatlodia has the most number of voters (285,998).

The Election Commission (EC) said 23,318 electronic voting machines will be used in as many polling stations, with 10,126 of them dubbed "critical" - an official euphemism to mean they could witness disturbances or violence.

The votes cast in Gujarat - along with those of Himachal Pradesh - will be counted on December 20.

If the BJP wins, Modi - whose image towers over that of the party and who has been chief minister since 2001 - could start playing a larger national role both in the BJP and pan-India politics. A defeat for the BJP could, however, puncture Modi's larger political ambitions and prove a great morale booster for the Congress ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi slammed central government for its weakness,Rehman Malik dared to equate Mumbai attack with Ayodhya because of weak govt in centre:Modi.Three Booth Repolling on Sunday.

Palanpur, 15 December 2012

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi slammed central government for its weakness,Rehman Malik dared to equate Mumbai attack with Ayodhya because of weak govt in centre:Modi.

Addressing a campaign rally in Palanpur around noon today, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi slammed central government for its weakness, thanks to which Pakistan’s minister Rehman Malik could have liberty to equate Mumbai terror attack with Ayodhya 1990.

Modi said: “Today when I was traveling, I heard one Pakistni delegation led by Rehman Malik is visiting India to talk peace, but that Rehman Malik has stated here something that India can’t tolerate. Pakistan’s this minister dared to speak on the land of India that Mumbai terror attack and Ayodhya 1990 were similar events. I want to ask the PM, whether any Pakistani minister has right to intervene in India’s internal issues? Pakistan is guilty of Mumbai attack, and instead of answering that, this minister justifies Mumbai event by equating it with Ayodhya. Pakistan dares to speak this way, because the government sitting in Delhi is not strong enough. PM is discussing Sir Creek with Pakistan’s delegation. PMji you are not giving reply, you are talking round and round, but I want clear answer from Delhi. I want clear assurance that even one inch of Sir Creek would not be given to Pakistan. Sonia questions me on Sir Creek issue, I want to tell her that I am a son of India, we live for India and will die for this nation, I took birth in this mitti and will die here. For us Sir Creek is not just a piece of land, it is a part of our country and we will not allow its partition. I raised this issue now only because of the meeting going to be held today to discuss Sir Creek. Otherwise I had written a letter on same issue in the month of April too. PMji, you are going ahead to finalize the agreement on Sir Creek as per Pakistan’s wish. Today is 15th December, it’s Sardar Patel ‘s death anniversary. Sardar created united India and on his death anniversary you talk to Pakistan to make deals of our land? This nation will never forgive you.”

Ahmedabad, 15 December 2012

In her media interaction in Vadodara in Gujarat, Maneka Gandhi daughter-in-law of Indira Gandhi passed critical remark on Sonia Gandhi over the issue of Sonia’s inability to deliver original speech. “I don’t watch her speeches. She has been in India for more than 40 years, and she still reads her speeches, and the speeches are written in English script. We even don’t know who writes her speeches, but the question is that what is the need of writing? Our people go to England and America, and they don’t know one word of English when they land there, but within one year our people start speaking English fluently. So if we can learn, everyone can learn Hindi.”

It should be mentioned here that Italy-born Sonia Gandhi reads the speeches in Congress rallies. She can’t deliever speech like other Indian politician. She can’t speak proper Hindi even after decades of stay in India. Sonia had sought citizenship of India after years of her stay in India.

Ahmedabad, 14 December 2012

“I have full faith. I have visited every corner of Gujarat during the campaign and has witnessed the wave in the people. I was clearly seeing that in this election not only wave but storm will be seen. And in this cyclone, Congress party will be uprooted.”

On Friday evening Modi addressed a massive public meetings in Anand, Himmatnagar and his constituency Maninagar. He said that it is in the hands of the people to decide the future of Gujarat and that their vote decide who will take ahead Gujarat’s development journey in the years ahead.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress’ arrogance and negative politics would be the reason they will be defeated. “Come fight on the basis of truth” he urged the Congress leaders.

Referring to the lies spread by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi during her visit to Gujarat today, Shri Modi expressed surprise that the President of a Party that is running the Government at the Centre and has Governments in so many states has to spread such canards. He asked her why is she getting too restless that she has to speak such lies.

On Mrs. Sonia Gandhi’s statement that the 108 service was brought to Gujarat by the Centre, Shri Modi said, “Maharashtra has a Congress Government for over 10 years. If Delhi gave 108 to Gujarat wouldn’t they have given it to Maharashtra? Can you see it in Maharashtra?” he asked. Likewise, the Chief Minister shared that Diu, Daman and Silvassa are Union Territories directly under the Centre but there is no 108 serve there. The Chief Minister recalled the times when the Congress ruled Gujarat, people had to wait endlessly for ambulance but now it is a matter of a few minutes that the ambulance comes!

Speaking on the campaign of the Congress, Shri Modi pointed, “Half of Delhi is in Gujarat. If you meet them ask them to name the districts of Gujarat,” and added, “Those who don’t even know the names of our districts are seeking votes to decide our future.”

Shri Modi completely demolished the statement of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi that 2 mills in Kalol have shut down during BJP rule. He pointed that be it Ahmedabad, Kalol, Khambhat or Limbdi its been many years since mills were shut during Congress rule, leaving lakh of people unemployed. “Your Government did not even shed a tear for them!” he affirmed.

He asked in whose times were the mill shut demanded that there should be a White Paper of the issue and there should be an SIT supervised by the Supreme Court which should investigate- what happened to the land when the mills shut? How did the Government sell it? Under what rules was it sold by the Textile Ministry be it in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Anand, Khambhat, Limbdi or Coimbatore. The Chief Minister avowed that this would make it clear how much money was swindled off and who swindled it off. He added that all former Congress textile ministers have indulged in wide scale corruption and this must be probed.

Shri Modi said, “Mrs. Sonia Gandhi says Government of India gives electricity? Truth is they take electricity!” He recalled that 5 years ago, the Centre took away 200 MW electricity and when the state Government asked, the Government was told the power was taken as it had to be given it to Mumbai. He shared that till date the 200 MW has not been returned. He added that the state Government has given lot more connections in the last 10 years as compared to the connections the Congress gave in their 40 years. Shri Modi also shared that if there is a power cut in Gujarat it is news whereas if power comes in Delhi, that becomes news.

The Chief Minister said that just like Kashmir and Siachen, Pakistan has it’s eyes on Sir Creek and the Centre thinks a deal is doable on the issue of Sir Creek. He pointed that by giving away Sir Creek the safety of the nation is under threat. Shri Modi said, “I challenge Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to say that we wont give up Sir Creek. Take the votes but say it” and added, “We want assurances there is no deal with Pakistan regarding Sir Creek. But when they don’t say anything, it means something is wrong”

He asked Mrs. Sonia Gandhi not to teach others on the unity of the nation. He avowed, “Don’t teach us on unity of India- we are people of the land of Sardar Patel and on 15th December, his Punya Tithi is this a tribute you will give him- of dividing India?”

Shri Modi pointed out instances of how the Congress cheats the people be it promising to bring down prices or snatching away gas cylinders. Shri Modi shared that the UPA has put the nation in a heavy debt of Rs. 40 lakh crore. The Chief Minister stated that in the last 10 years the Gujarat Government has levied not a single new tax on the people. “Earlier the money that came went to the pockets of the Congress. Now all that has changed” he affirmed.
