The ruling Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on Thursday announced its next five years action plan for the city of Ahmedabad if reelected to power in Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC) in election, polling for which is scheduled to take place on November 22.
Highlights of BJP manifesto are following:
* Amdavad to be made a wi-fi city
* Dedicated women hospital in eastern area of city.
* City convention center in eastern area of city.
* Fly over bridges and elevated corridors as solution to traffic problem.
* Speedy implementation of Metro train project.
* Pipeline instead of open canal of Shedhi and Raska for better water supply.
* City amusement park matching to Emagica in Mumbai.
* All street lights to be converted to LED.
* More EWS and LIG housing units to be constructed.
* Attempt will be made in direction to achieve ‘zero slum’ target.
* Smart roads, RCC, model road conversion.
* Green city, clean city, solar city.
* Amdavad Swachh Abhiyan, scientific recycling project, modernized cleanliness system.
* Modernization, expansion of existing health services.
* Akshaypatra mid-day meal in all kindergarten run by AMC and its effective implementation.
* Yog centers in gardens.
* Sports complexes, health clubs, cricket coaching ground to be developed.
* Smart school in each of 48 wards. At present a smart school is already functioning in Vasna area of city.
* Feasibility report to search possibility for elevated ring road around the wall city area in attempt to solve the traffic issue.
* Smart urban health centers.
* City picnic point in east Ahmedabad.
* New Manekchowk food markets in each zone.

The Bharatiya Janata Party will retain power in all six municipal corporations of Gujarat.

Congress has released candidates for 2021 elections
Ward - Gota, Chandlodia, Ranip, Nava Wadaj, Ghatlodia, Thaltej, Navrangpura, Naroda, Naranpura and Vasna.
Candidates - Parmar Pushpa Jitendra, Bhavsar Kusum, Desai Dinesh and Ankit Patel from Gota ward, Manisha Thakore, Bharti Panchal, Sanjay Sheth, Panchal Sailesh from Chandlodia ward, Panchal Manisha, Patel Nisha, Patel Pravin and Parmar Ashwin from Ranip ward.
Ward - Nava Wadaj ward,
Candidates : Pushpa Parmar, Ami Shah, Mahendra Patel and Kamlesh Patel, while from Ghatlodia ward, Pooja Prajapati, Lopa Shah, Rupesh Patel, Sunil Thakor Patel, Parmar Parul, Gadhvi Darshil and Patel Hitesh, and from Naroda ward, Visavadia Neeta, Patel Sita, Mevada Kirit and Gohil Mahendrasinh will have been fielded by the party. From Naranpura ward, Soni Siddharth and Patel Pravin have been fielded.
Navrangpura ward - Vaishali Soni. Gadhvi Bageshree, Tejas Vanol and Jayakumar Patel on Congress ticket, while from Vasna ward, Dantani Punam, Trupti Raval, Gohil Vinubhai and Shah Bhavin will fight election against BJP and other party candidates.
Gujarat BJP on Tuesday announced the names of 186 out of 192 candidates for AMC election. BJP has declared first list of candidates for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) elections. This time for the civic polls, the BJP has repeated more than 50 candidates.

Gujarat State Election Commission
State Election Commission, Gujarat was constituted in September 1993 under Article 243K of the Constitution of India. State Election Commission has been entrusted with the function of conducting free, fair and impartial elections to the local bodies in the state.
Part-IX and Part-IXA were incorporated through the amendment no.73 and no.74 in the constitution of India covering provisions regarding the Panchayats and Municipalities respectively. These parts cover constitutions of Panchayats and Municipality including their elections by the State Election Commission.
Role of State Election Commission
State election commission carries out activities related to preparation of wards / election division as per local bodies rules, decision of boundaries and distribution of seats along with preparation of voters list for the local bodies organizations like Gram Panchayat, Taluka and District Panchayat / Municipality and Municipal Corporation of the state and conducting general / mid-term / bye-elections and supervising them. For all these functions, the authority is vested in the State Election Commission under Article 243 K under which it has been empowered with Superintendence, Direction and Control of elections of local bodies.

BJP candidate Kishorbhai Parmar has won ward number 19 by margin of 1750 votes while BJP candidate Bhanuben Talaviya has won ward number 20 seat by margin of 3636 votes.
By-election for Rajkot Municipal Corporation(RMC) ward no. 19 and 20 and 37 vacant seats of 12 municipalities were scheduled on 19 April 2015.
Municipalities that witnessed by-polls were Jasdan, Morbi, Anand, Visnagar, Valsad, Deesa, Vanthli, Keshod, Veraval paten, Dabhoi, Karjan, and Bhachau.
Bhachau(Kutch) had by-eleciton on 17 seats while Karjan(central Gujarat) had by-poll on 6 seats. Other municipalities had by-poll on 1, 2 or 3 seats.
Other results:
BJP wins Keshod(ward 10 Arvind Manvar) , Dabhoi(Jignesh Vasava), Visnagar(ward 11 Manish Patel), Anand(Sachin Patel with 4100 margin), Morbi(both seats), Bhachau(all 11 seats).
Congress candidate Dhiru Chhayani won ward number 7 bypoll in Jasdan by 10 votes. Congress candidate Salim Kharwa won Vanthli municipality ward number 5 bypoll. In Veraval Prabhas Patan independent candidate won 1 seat.
BJP President reacts:
Gujarat BJP President RC Faldu today expressed pleasure over BJP’s major victory in local body by-polls. Faldu said BJP will not gain even slightest of arrogance due to this victory. The party will take it as responsibility given by people. He said this is defeat of Congress party’s politics which is full of negativity. He said this is victory of BJP’s development politics which includes all classes.
Faldu said election was scheduled for 37 seats and BJP had in the past only 7 seats of them while 30 seats were with Congress. Today after the results BJP has 33 seats while Congress has only 4 seats.
It should be mentioned that BJP has won 11 seats unopposed while Congress 1. Polling was held for 24 seats. Of them BJP has won 21 seats while Congress 3. Bypoll on one seat in Deesa was canceled as no candidate had filed nomination form.
