 Gujarat  Bye Election 2014

A by-election (also spelled as "bye-election"), also known as a special election, is an election held to fill a political office that has become vacant between general elections.

Usually, a by-election occurs when the incumbent has died or resigned. It may also occur when the incumbent becomes ineligible to continue in office, for example because of a recall, ennoblement, a serious criminal conviction, failure to maintain a minimum attendance, bankruptcy or mental incapacity.Click here for Complete Election Result..>>

Sonia Gandhi Is go For the Compaign In Gujarat Poll ,  in Gujarat Sonia Gandhi to campaign today.

Ahmedabad: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be campaigning in poll-bound Gujarat on Friday.

According to reports, Sonia will be holding two rallies in Kalol and Mehsana. She is also expected to address a media briefing in Ahmedabad.

During her whirlwind tour of the state earlier, Sonia had sharpened her attack on Chief Minister Narendra Modi who is seeking a third consecutive term in office.

She had accused Modi and his BJP-led government of failing to meet the aspirations of the people of the state.

"They (Modi and BJP) have no interest in poor and common people but its only interest is development of its own and a select few people. The development which was promised in a big way is nowhere to be seen in this tribal land...because what they promised were hollow and false," Sonia said.

A huge voter turnout was recorded on Thursday in the first phase of elections.

Over 68 percent voters exercised their franchise during the polling for 87 seats of the 182 member Assembly.

The constituencies where polling was held include 48 in seven districts of Saurashtra, 35 seats in seven districts of South Gujarat and four seats in Ahmedabad district.

The second phase will be held on December 17 while the counting of votes will be taken up on December 20.

Thursday's voter turnout is the highest in the elections held so far in Gujarat. The highest polling recorded earlier was 63.70 per in 1967 elections. In 2007, the voter turnout was 59.77 per cent.

In Gujarat Poll Saurabh Patel Is a Strong Face For Gujarat chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Vadodara: Fifty-four-year-old Saurabh Patel, an MBA from the US and related to the Dhirubhai Ambani family through marriage, is a key face in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's army of election campaigners. Since the exit and arrest of former home minister Amit Shah in fake encounter cases, it's Saurabh Patel who's seen as Modi's closest aide. And as he campaigns in the Akota constituency in Vadodara, questions are already being asked if he would take over in Gujarat in case Modi moves to a national role.

Saurabh Patel, however, remains nonchalant. "These are all figment of the media's imagination. Narendra Modi is our leader and we only want to talk of 2012. Neither the past nor the future."

However, the fact that he's important was reiterated by the fact that he was allowed to shift from an unsafe rural seat in Bhavnagar to Akota, a safe urban seat in Vadodara, a luxury Modi rarely concedes. And in Akota, as the Congress claims he's an outsider, Patel has ensured everything goes right, even reaching out to professionals at a BPO as part of his campaign.

An excellent repport with the industry and a decent standing within the party, Saurabh Patel is tipped to succeed Modi, but a big 'if' here would be - if Narendra Modi seeks greener politcal pastures. Those greener pastures in national politics will only be possible if Modi gets a convincing, near two-thirds majority in Gujarat. "I am confident the BJP will win a huge and overwhelming record majority," says a beaming Saurabh Patel. an MBA from the US and related to the Dhirubhai Ambani family through marriage.

Before this Sonia will visit Kalol in Gandhinagar district to address a public meeting there.
