AAP is getting ready to take on BJP at the 2017 corporation elections. In a statement released on Monday, the party said it "will run a sustained campaign to expose BJP's corruption and mis-governance in the BJP-led municipal corporations". AAP will "repeat its resounding victory in the municipal elections", the statement claimed.

15 June 15: Delhi to have single helpline for civic grievances by 2017: Kejriwal

 "We are planing a single helpline for people. But that will have to wait till we win the corporation elections in 2017," Kejriwal told IANS at the Delhi secretariat.
 Kejriwal said he realised that a majority of civic complaints are related to grievances against the local corporations. But very few knew, he said, that the Delhi government had no control over these corporations -- the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation - which are run by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

12 June 15: Delhi government launches education loan scheme for students

The Aam Aadmi party government on Thursday launched a higher education and skill education guarantee scheme to provide a Rs.10 lakh bank loan to students from Delhi.
"Under the scheme, regardless of the student's financial condition, they would be provided Rs.10 lakh as loan without any collateral or third-party guarantee or margin money. There would be no processing charges for the loan," said the statement issued by the state government.

12 June 15: Delhi assembly's budget session from June 23

"In Thursday's cabinet meeting, we have decided to hold budget session from June 23 to June 30," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told reporters.
"Government has prepared a draft of budget and sent it to the lt governor for the approval of the central government," he added.
The AAP government in March proposed an estimated budget outlay of Rs.37,750 crore for 2015-16 as it presented a vote-on-account for the first three months of the fiscal.

12 June 15: Delhi seeks Rs.3,000 crore from centre
The Delhi government on Tuesday sought Rs.3,000 crore from the central government to pay salaries of sanitation workers in civic bodies, a government source said. The demand was made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a meeting with Finance Minster Arun Jaitley, the source told IANS.

"We have decided to release Rs.500 crore to the North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations," Kejrwal told a gathering of sanitation workers at Ramlila Maidan here.

6-Jun-15: Kejriwal attacks Modi, says he is no Rahul Gandhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday described Narendra Modi as "not a good prime minister", and said he cannot be compared with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Kejriwal told NDTV in an interview that Modi was using Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to create obstacles for his Aam Aadmi Party government to avenge the Bharatiya Janata Party's rout in the February elections in Delhi.
"He (Modi) is taking revenge against the people and the Aam Aadmi Party because of the loss (in Delhi)... He cannot be a good prime minister," Kejriwal said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi Government was on Sunday criticised by the BJP and Congress party, over alleged reports of its plans of procuring modern snooping equipments.
Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and Delhi BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli took a dig at AAP government while talking to a news channel, stating the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal was trying to act like 'Intelligence Bureau Chief'.

Delhi is the capital of India and has central government, Election Commission, the Supreme Court, parliament and the embassies. Why this eagerness to set up these interceptor vehicles?" Kohli asked while speaking to a news channel.

New Delhi, The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Thursday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the union home ministry May 21 notification that said Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has discretionary power over appointments and transfers of key bureaucratic posts in the capital.
The Delhi government mentioned the matter before a division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, which posted the matter for Friday.

28- May-15: Delhi's anti-corruption helpline got only 282 calls'
New Delhi,  The Delhi government's anti-corruption helpline '1031' has received 282 calls up to May 13, an RTI query has revealed.
The Right to Information (RTI), filed by Advocate Vivek Garg, also revealed that seven cases have been registered on receipt of complaints through the anti-corruption helpline.
"(Arvind) Kejriwal's government is trying to mislead the people by giving wrong figures. If his government had claimed that the anti-corruption helpline had received over 1 lakh calls within a month, why did the anti corruption branch in its RTI reply state that it has received only 282 calls till now," Garg told IANS.

New Delhi, The Delhi High Court was on Wednesday informed that the city's Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, as per the records of a law college in Bihar, had studied there for three years and completed his degree.
Justice Rajiv Shakdher was further informed by Tomar's counsel senior advocate A.S. Chandhiok that he was a bonafide student for three years in Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Study College in Munger.
Affidavit submitted to the court by Tomar's counsel, which was filed by college's principal, said as far as the "information regarding Tomar is concerned, the records reveal that Jitender Singh Tomar was a student of this college in LLB Part I, II, and III in the session 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1997-98, respectively".

28- May-15: HC seeks Delhi government, LG , civic bodies' response on fund allotment
New Delhi, The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought response of the Delhi government, lt. governor and civic bodies on a PIL seeking direction for immediate release of adequate funds to the city's three municipal corporations to enable them to discharge their functions.
A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw sought response by June 29.
Earlier, the court had issued notice to the parties and sought their response but they did not file the reply. Now the court asked them to file response "without fail".

The Congress on Tuesday accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and the Narendra Modi dispensation at the Centre of engaging in a "bitter fratricidal" war.

"Kejriwal and Modi are fighting a bitter fratricidal war. In this fire only the people of Delhi are burning," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told media persons here, adding: "Kejriwal who is an anarchist, finds it difficult to govern." "They should think of the people of Delhi," he said.

"Everybody should work within the constitutional provisions," Rajnath Singh said during a media conference at the Press Club here. He said the Aam Aadmi Party won a mandate from the people of Delhi and the centre would extend its full cooperation.
"The Delhi government has been elected by the people. The central government will not put up any hurdles in its functioning. We will also give them full cooperation," said the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

New Delhi, Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar on Tuesday urged the high court to stay the proceedings of the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) initiated against him in an alleged "fake law degree" case.

Approaching the high court, senior advocate A.S. Chandhiok who appeared for Tomar mentioned the case before Justice Rajiv Shakdher who posted the matter for Wednesday.  Chandhiok said BCD should give more time to Tomar to file certified copies of his degrees.

22- May-15: Home ministry notification shows BJP is nervous: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday the home affairs ministry's notification asserting the Lt. Governor's power in public order and services issues showed BJP's nervousness against its anti-corruption effort.
"The BJP first lost Delhi elections. Today's notification shows BJP's nervousness about our anti-corruption efforts. The BJP again lost today," Kejriwal tweeted.
The notification was issued on Thursday, but it came to light on Friday. It said: "Article 239AA inserted by the constitution (sixty ninth amendment act 1991) provides that the UT of Delhi shall be called NCT of Delhi and the administrator thereof shall be designated as Lt. Governor."

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought the response from the Arvind Kejriwal government on a plea against its move to appoint 21 AAP legislators as parliamentary secretaries. A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw, however, refused to stay the government order saying it requires further consideration.  The bench asked the Delhi government counsel to take instructions and clear its stand on the issue. The court sought a response by July 1.

Corruption has come down in Delhi by 70-80 percent, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday, adding his party will try to fulfil its election promises within four years.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has given the go-ahead to detailed plans for the party to contest civic polls in Mumbai and Bengaluru, and the Assembly elections in Punjab.
This will lead to the next round of showdown with ousted AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, who have already been working on parallel plans. Punjab will go to polls in 2017. The Mumbai civic polls will be held the same year.
The AAP has started identifying people who could lead the party in these polls.  It is already split in Maharashtra. Party leaders Sanjeev Sane, Lalit Babar and Maruti Bhapkar will lead scores of workers to resign from the party on Monday.

Delhi, May 4 (IANS) The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has summoned Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on the basis of a complaint filed by a party volunteer alleging molestation, an official of the DCW said here on Monday."Kumar Vishwas has been summoned to state his stand on the allegations made by his party volunteer. We have asked him to appear before us tomorrow," said an official of the DCW."The volunteer had worked for a year in Amethi for the party and now it is a matter of her respect, and so Kumar Vishwas should turn up and give his clarification," the official said.However, sources from Kumar Vishwas camp said he had not received any summons or notice in this connection from the DCW or any other commission.A female volunteer of the AAP had alleged molestation by Kumar Vishwas during campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Amethi.

New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday defended his Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, accused of faking his law degree, and called for a "public trial" of the media.
If Tomar had done any wrong, Kejriwal said he would have surely asked him to step down.
"I am not Tomar's relative or friend. I had sought an explanation from Tomar on the controversy. He gave a satisfactory answer and said he wasn't at fault as his degree is genuine," Kejriwal said.
The chief minister said a Right to Information query seeking details about Tomar's law degree from a Bihar university was moved on a wrong roll number. "It was done to taint his image."

Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar said on Tuesday his degree was 100 percent genuine and there was no reason for him to resign over the issue.
"My degree is 100 percent genuine. I have all the documents to prove it so I will not resign from the post," the minister said at a press conference here over the fake degree allegations.

Delhi Police blames AAP for Gajendra’s death, says leaders made provocative speeches

In its report to the Union Home Ministry on the suicide of Gajendra Singh, the Delhi Police, Wednesday, blamed the Aam Aadmi Party and the crowd present at its Jantar Mantar rally for the farmer's death.
As per the Delhi Police report, AAP leaders were making provocative speeches, and the crowd present at the rally venue instigated and provoked Gajendra to commit suicide.
The report also alleged that AAP did not heed to the police’s request to change the rally’s venue to Ram Lila Maidan.
The Delhi Police also alleged that the SDM of the New Delhi district, who was mandated by the Kejriwal government to conduct a probe, had asked the police not to conduct a post-mortem on the body of Gajendra.

New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) The BJP and Congress on Tuesday demanded removal of Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar following revelations in a court that a Bihar university had declared his provisional certificate as "not genuine".
While 48-year-old Tomar's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) maintained that the minister was given time by the court to respond, he claimed to be having proof of his educational qualifications.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress leaders also targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the controversy, his former party colleague Prashant Bhushan also sought answers from the Delhi government on the issue.

Farmer's suicide: Congress protests at Kejriwal's home

Congress workers on Thursday protested outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence here over the suicide by a farmer from Rajasthan during an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally on Wednesday, officials said.
Nearly 100 workers protested outside Kejriwal's Civil Lines home, shouting slogans and waving banners that said AAP was responsible for farmer Gajendra's death.
"They kept continuing with their speeches even after the suicide," the workers said.
The protesters also burnt posters.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma told IANS that there were nearly 100 protesters.
"They are claiming that it was a conspiracy and are saying that the AAP leaders continued with their 'bhashan' even while the farmer was dying," he said.

Gajendra Singh, the farmer who committed suicide during an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally in Delhi on Wednesday was cremated at his native village in Rajasthan on Thursday.
The teary-eyed people at Nangal Jhamarwara in Dausa district, shouted slogans when his last rites were being performed.
There was also sloganeering against Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government and AAP.
Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot and other party leaders met his family and tried to console them.

Ahead of the mayoral polls in the civic bodies, Congress candidate Farhad Suri for the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has alleged that the BJP, which is the ruling party in the corporation, misuses its power.
Mr Suri, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the SDMC, has written to the LG saying, “The present ruling party in the SDMC, by abusing their official position, influence/pressurise the municipal secretary and take the ballot papers and carry out scrutiny of the same (sic), which is highly unfair.”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday termed the allegations levelled against its leaders Pankaj Gupta and Ashish Khetan by expelled party leader Prashant Bhushan as "baseless" and said the party would not order any inquiry into them.

"There will not be any inquiry against Pankaj Gupta and Ashish Khetan as the charges are completely baseless and bear no truth," AAP spokesperson Ashutosh told reporters in the national capital.

Have not received expulsion letter yet: Yogendra Yadav


"We have not got any expulsion letter from the party till now. But even before that in a meeting yesterday (Monday) evening, all four of us had decided to split away from the Aam Aadmi Party," Yogendra Yadav told reporters in the national capital.


The decision to expel the leaders from the party came late on Monday night following separate replies by Bhushan and Yadav to the show-cause notices served on them for organising an anti-party meeting in Gurgaon last week.

Delhi CM seeks public opinion on budget

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday attended the first day of the "Janta Ka Budget" street corner meeting in Patparganj assembly constituency organised to take public suggestions on the budget.
Addressing the meeting, Kejriwal said his government was committed to public welfare and explained the concepts of the participatory budgeting exercise.
"We believe in participation of public in preparation of their budget," he said, adding: "I strongly believe that not only Delhi but the entire nation will see a real democracy taking place in the national capital." "We are fulfilling the promises that we had made during election campaign in Delhi," the chief minister said.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who represents Patparganj in the assembly, said the people of Delhi would prepare their own budget and asked the people to vote on what work needed to be done.
"Vote for the projects you think need to be done by raising your hand. You might have raised your hands earlier for praising the leaders but now it is the time you raise hands for yourselves," he said.
"Raise your hands if you think that we should provide pension to the extreme poor people from this limited budget. Do not hesitate, it is your budget and you should decide the priority of the works to be done," he said.

AAP got 91 per cent of the total fund received by political outfits during 2013 Delhi elections

Total funds collected by all National and Regional parties which contested in the Delhi Assembly Elections, 2013, were Rs. 2272.91 lakhs. Total funds collected by AAP were Rs. 2075.36 lakhs which forms 91% of total funds collected by all the National and Regional Parties and BJP declared a total of Rs. 27.7 lakhs funds collected (1.22% of total funds).
According to the analysis made by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), total expenditure incurred by all National and Regional parties during Delhi Assembly Elections, 2013 was Rs. 1501.71 lakhs.

AAP to decide on Bhushan, Yadav at party meet

The political affairs committee of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to hold a meeting here on Wednesday evening, said party volunteers.
"Future of the dissident leaders of the party, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, will be decided in the meeting," said some volunteers of the party.
Dissident AAP leaders Yadav and Bhushan will also address the media persons at 4 p.m. A source in the AAP said, "Both the rebel leaders, Yadav and Bhushan, may be expelled from the party after any such decision in the meeting."

AAP thanks Delhi government for compensation to farmers

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday appreciated the Delhi government for its decision to provide the highest ever compensation to farmers hit by unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the national capital.
The AAP, in a statement, said the decision of the Arvind Kejriwal government to provide compensation of Rs.50,000 per hectare (Rs.20,000 per acre) to every affected farmer was the highest ever by any government in the country.
"The AAP government has proved its pro-people character in each of its decision so far and the farmers compensation in Delhi should serve as an eye-opener for other state governments, where farmers' crops have been destroyed," it said.

AAP MLAs oppose electricity tariff hike petitions

A total of 15 AAP legislators have objected to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) over electricity tariff revision petitions for 2015-16 by private power distribution companies (discoms), the party said on Friday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs strongly objected to any tariff hike, as demanded by the discoms, and requested, on the other hand, that DERC should reject the petitions and order reduction in electricity tariffs, the party said in a statement.

Not bothered by developments in party: Kejriwal
New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said he was not bothered by recent developments in the Aam Aadmi Party and was concentrating on governing the national capital.
He was referring to expulsion of senior leaders - Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan - from the AAP's key decision making bodies for alleged "anti-party activities".
He was speaking at the launch of the book 'The Crown Prince, The Gladiator and The Hope' by his party colleague Ashutosh.

Kejriwal bribery remark case to be heard on July 21
New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) A court here on Thursday fixed July 21 for recording pre-summoning evidence on a criminal complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly asking voters to take bribes from other parties but vote for his AAP.

Kejriwal to meet Delhi farmers

New Delhi,Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet farmers of the national capital in the wake of unseasonal rains which have damaged the standing crops in north India.
Besides, Kejriwal is likely to lay out his government's roadmap for the dwellers of the unauthorised colonies in the capital, government sources said.
"The chief minister will address the Sahyog Rally in Mundka on Saturday. He would listen to their problems especially of those whose crops have been damaged by rain," the official said.

The Delhi government's revamped anti-graft helpline received 12,731 calls within 24 hours of being launched on Sunday.
The government said while it was analysing all the calls to segregate between frivolous and real calls, some complaints of corruption against officials of civic bodies and other departments have already been forwarded to its Anti-Corruption Branch.
"Several calls were related to complaints against the officials of Delhi Police, education department, transport department, Jal Board, Delhi Fire (Services)," an official statement said on Monday.
Efforts are being made to ensure that no call made on 1031 helpline number remains unanswered, it added.

Kejriwal relaunches anti-graft helpline, vows corruption-free Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday re-launched the anti corruption helpline -- started during his previous 49-day stint in government -- and pledged to make Delhi among the world's top five corruption-free cities in five years.

Inaugurating the 1031 helpline with "strengthened backhand", Kejriwal said that by bringing the helpline to curb bribery in offices with public dealings, the AAP government had delivered its third poll promise after cheap power and water.
