4-July-15: AAP Rs 526 crore ad budget to hide failure of poll promises: NDMC
BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation today hit out at the AAP dispensation over its decision to allocate a whopping Rs 526 crore for information and publicity, saying the move was an attempt to "hide and polish its failures" in fulfilling its poll promises.
"Rs 526 crore set aside by the Delhi government for publicity in the budget for the year 2015-16 is an attempt to hide and polish its failures," NDMC Standing Committee Chairman Mohan Bhardwaj alleged.
23 June 15: AAP eyes civic polls
AAP is getting ready to take on BJP at the 2017 corporation elections. In a statement released on Monday, the party said it "will run a sustained campaign to expose BJP's corruption and mis-governance in the BJP-led municipal corporations". AAP will "repeat its resounding victory in the municipal elections", the statement claimed.
15 June 15: Delhi to have single helpline for civic grievances by 2017: Kejriwal
"We are planing a single helpline for people. But that will have to wait till we win the corporation elections in 2017," Kejriwal told IANS at the Delhi secretariat.
Kejriwal said he realised that a majority of civic complaints are related to grievances against the local corporations. But very few knew, he said, that the Delhi government had no control over these corporations -- the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation - which are run by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
12 June 15: Delhi government launches education loan scheme for students
The Aam Aadmi party government on Thursday launched a higher education and skill education guarantee scheme to provide a Rs.10 lakh bank loan to students from Delhi.
"Under the scheme, regardless of the student's financial condition, they would be provided Rs.10 lakh as loan without any collateral or third-party guarantee or margin money. There would be no processing charges for the loan," said the statement issued by the state government.
12 June 15: Delhi assembly's budget session from June 23
"In Thursday's cabinet meeting, we have decided to hold budget session from June 23 to June 30," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told reporters.
"Government has prepared a draft of budget and sent it to the lt governor for the approval of the central government," he added.
The AAP government in March proposed an estimated budget outlay of Rs.37,750 crore for 2015-16 as it presented a vote-on-account for the first three months of the fiscal.
12 June 15: Delhi seeks Rs.3,000 crore from centre
The Delhi government on Tuesday sought Rs.3,000 crore from the central government to pay salaries of sanitation workers in civic bodies, a government source said. The demand was made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a meeting with Finance Minster Arun Jaitley, the source told IANS.
12 June 15: Delhi government to release Rs.500 crore to civic bodies
"We have decided to release Rs.500 crore to the North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations," Kejrwal told a gathering of sanitation workers at Ramlila Maidan here.
He asked the workers to protest outside the houses of central ministers since the municipal corporations are controlled by the BJP.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday described Narendra Modi as "not a good prime minister", and said he cannot be compared with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Kejriwal told NDTV in an interview that Modi was using Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to create obstacles for his Aam Aadmi Party government to avenge the Bharatiya Janata Party's rout in the February elections in Delhi.
"He (Modi) is taking revenge against the people and the Aam Aadmi Party because of the loss (in Delhi)... He cannot be a good prime minister," Kejriwal said.

Delhi Government on Wednesday held separate budget consultations with various industry and trade bodies and resident welfare associations (RWAs) at the Delhi Secretariat. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi Government was on Sunday criticised by the BJP and Congress party, over alleged reports of its plans of procuring modern snooping equipments.
Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and Delhi BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli took a dig at AAP government while talking to a news channel, stating the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal was trying to act like 'Intelligence Bureau Chief'.
"While Arvind Kejriwal is elected as chief minister, he wants to act like an Intelligence Bureau chief," said Nalin Kohli.
Questioning the intentions of Delhi Government, BJP asked AAP 'what they want to know?'
"You cannot tap anybody's phone without the home secretary's permission. Delhi is the capital of India and has central government, Election Commission, the Supreme Court, parliament and the embassies. Why this eagerness to set up these interceptor vehicles?" Kohli asked while speaking to a news channel.

The BJP on Monday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party has failed to keep promises made to the people and said it will hit the streets against the ruling party for operating a "factory of lies".
Charging AAP with encouraging tanker mafias in the state during summers, BJP also claimed that relatives of MLAs and ministers from the ruling party were "involved in the business".
"You promised to lay more water pipelines; we want to ask about the length of pipelines you have laid till now? You promised clean water, but people are getting contaminated water. You said tanker mafias will be finished, but you haven't. People in unauthorised colonies and slums are not getting water.
28- May-15: Delhi government challenges MHA notification
New Delhi, The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Thursday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the union home ministry May 21 notification that said Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has discretionary power over appointments and transfers of key bureaucratic posts in the capital.
The Delhi government mentioned the matter before a division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, which posted the matter for Friday.
28- May-15: Delhi's anti-corruption helpline got only 282 calls'
New Delhi, The Delhi government's anti-corruption helpline '1031' has received 282 calls up to May 13, an RTI query has revealed.
The Right to Information (RTI), filed by Advocate Vivek Garg, also revealed that seven cases have been registered on receipt of complaints through the anti-corruption helpline.
"(Arvind) Kejriwal's government is trying to mislead the people by giving wrong figures. If his government had claimed that the anti-corruption helpline had received over 1 lakh calls within a month, why did the anti corruption branch in its RTI reply state that it has received only 282 calls till now," Garg told IANS.
28- May-15: Delhi minister Tomar studied law for three years: HC told
New Delhi, The Delhi High Court was on Wednesday informed that the city's Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, as per the records of a law college in Bihar, had studied there for three years and completed his degree.
Justice Rajiv Shakdher was further informed by Tomar's counsel senior advocate A.S. Chandhiok that he was a bonafide student for three years in Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Study College in Munger.
Affidavit submitted to the court by Tomar's counsel, which was filed by college's principal, said as far as the "information regarding Tomar is concerned, the records reveal that Jitender Singh Tomar was a student of this college in LLB Part I, II, and III in the session 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1997-98, respectively".
28- May-15: HC seeks Delhi government, LG , civic bodies' response on fund allotment
New Delhi, The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought response of the Delhi government, lt. governor and civic bodies on a PIL seeking direction for immediate release of adequate funds to the city's three municipal corporations to enable them to discharge their functions.
A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw sought response by June 29.
Earlier, the court had issued notice to the parties and sought their response but they did not file the reply. Now the court asked them to file response "without fail".
27- May-15: Kejriwal-Modi fighting bitter war in Delhi: Congress
The Congress on Tuesday accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and the Narendra Modi dispensation at the Centre of engaging in a "bitter fratricidal" war.
"Kejriwal and Modi are fighting a bitter fratricidal war. In this fire only the people of Delhi are burning," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told media persons here, adding: "Kejriwal who is an anarchist, finds it difficult to govern." Surjewala said: "Modi, who is unable to digest his defeat in the Delhi assembly elections, is trying to wreck the government."
"They should think of the people of Delhi," he said.
27- May-15: Centre won't create hurdles in AAP government's work: Rajnath
"Everybody should work within the constitutional provisions," Rajnath Singh said during a media conference at the Press Club here. He said the Aam Aadmi Party won a mandate from the people of Delhi and the centre would extend its full cooperation.
"The Delhi government has been elected by the people. The central government will not put up any hurdles in its functioning. We will also give them full cooperation," said the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader.
27- May-15: Delhi minister Tomar seeks stay on bar council proceedings
New Delhi, Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar on Tuesday urged the high court to stay the proceedings of the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) initiated against him in an alleged "fake law degree" case.
Approaching the high court, senior advocate A.S. Chandhiok who appeared for Tomar mentioned the case before Justice Rajiv Shakdher who posted the matter for Wednesday. Chandhiok said BCD should give more time to Tomar to file certified copies of his degrees.
22- May-15: Home ministry notification shows BJP is nervous: Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday the home affairs ministry's notification asserting the Lt. Governor's power in public order and services issues showed BJP's nervousness against its anti-corruption effort.
"The BJP first lost Delhi elections. Today's notification shows BJP's nervousness about our anti-corruption efforts. The BJP again lost today," Kejriwal tweeted.
The notification was issued on Thursday, but it came to light on Friday. It said: "Article 239AA inserted by the constitution (sixty ninth amendment act 1991) provides that the UT of Delhi shall be called NCT of Delhi and the administrator thereof shall be designated as Lt. Governor."
22- May-15:BJP rattled by our good work: Kejriwal on MHA notification
"The BJP-led central government has issued the notification just because they are rattled by the good work done by the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government," Kejriwal said at a press conference here.
"They (the BJP) want to take the power of transfer and posting of officers in Delhi in their hands so that they can deploy their people in Delhi," he said.
Kejriwal accused Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung of not enquiring about development related issues. "But he is concerned about transfer and posting of officers."
"I have no direct fight with the LG as he is just a face... ruled by the PMO," he added.
21- May-15: AAP government's response sought on appointment of secretaries
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought the response from the Arvind Kejriwal government on a plea against its move to appoint 21 AAP legislators as parliamentary secretaries. A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw, however, refused to stay the government order saying it requires further consideration. The bench asked the Delhi government counsel to take instructions and clear its stand on the issue. The court sought a response by July 1.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to let his democratically elected government function independently. In his letter, Kejriwal also accused the central government of trying to run his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government through Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung, government sources said.

Corruption has come down in Delhi by 70-80 percent, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday, adding his party will try to fulfil its election promises within four years.
Addressing thousands of auto-rickshaw drivers here, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader also announced the launch of a helpline (011-4240 0400) where people could lodge complaints against autos.

Stating that he doesn't care about media, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that if election is held in the national capital today, Aam Aadmi Party would poll 72 per cent votes.
"Whatever comes in the media, but I conduct a survey every 15 days of my party in Delhi. If elections are conducted in the national capital, then we are ought to get 72 per cent votes. After the elections, our condition has improved a lot," Kejriwal said.
He also said that his government is going to complete 100 days. After the Delhi Assembly's elections, people's affection has increased towards the AAP.
4-may-15 AAP to contest civic polls in Bengaluru and Mumbai
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has given the go-ahead to detailed plans for the party to contest civic polls in Mumbai and Bengaluru, and the Assembly elections in Punjab.
This will lead to the next round of showdown with ousted AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, who have already been working on parallel plans. Punjab will go to polls in 2017. The Mumbai civic polls will be held the same year.
The AAP has started identifying people who could lead the party in these polls. It is already split in Maharashtra. Party leaders Sanjeev Sane, Lalit Babar and Maruti Bhapkar will lead scores of workers to resign from the party on Monday.

Delhi, May 4 (IANS) The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has summoned Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on the basis of a complaint filed by a party volunteer alleging molestation, an official of the DCW said here on Monday."Kumar Vishwas has been summoned to state his stand on the allegations made by his party volunteer. We have asked him to appear before us tomorrow," said an official of the DCW."The volunteer had worked for a year in Amethi for the party and now it is a matter of her respect, and so Kumar Vishwas should turn up and give his clarification," the official said.However, sources from Kumar Vishwas camp said he had not received any summons or notice in this connection from the DCW or any other commission.A female volunteer of the AAP had alleged molestation by Kumar Vishwas during campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Amethi.

New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday defended his Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, accused of faking his law degree, and called for a "public trial" of the media.
If Tomar had done any wrong, Kejriwal said he would have surely asked him to step down.
"I am not Tomar's relative or friend. I had sought an explanation from Tomar on the controversy. He gave a satisfactory answer and said he wasn't at fault as his degree is genuine," Kejriwal said.
The chief minister said a Right to Information query seeking details about Tomar's law degree from a Bihar university was moved on a wrong roll number. "It was done to taint his image."

This Labour Day, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal went all out to reward the vote bank which catapulted his party to a historic victory. The CM did not simply stop at measures to empower the labourers but chose to touch a familiar chord—power bills.
After giving a power subsidy to consumers, the capital is now planning a rebate scheme on old bills. There is also respite promised from pending cases linked to power.
