About the Constituency:

The Faridabad parliamentary constituency is one of the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies that belong to the north Indian state of Haryana. It covers the entire district of Faridabad. Situated in the Faridabad district is the city of Faridabad, which is an integral part of the parliamentary constituency as well as the administrative headquarters and Municipal Corporation of the district. 
The total number of electorates in the Faridabad Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 10) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,103,046 of which 616,759 are males and 486,287 are females.

The number of assembly segments which belong to this Congress dominated Lok Sabha seat is nine, none of which are reserved for the marginalised sections of the society.

Historical background about the Constituency:

Formed as recently as in 2008, as per the Delimitation Commission’s notifications, the Bhiwani- Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat is one of the 10 parliamentary constituencies in the Northern Indian state of Haryana.

It has been one of the most historically relevant regions in the country as Gandhiji launched a number of his freedom movements from here, gearing the nation against strong anti-colonial forces. The Bhiwani Mahendragarh Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 8) has a total of 1,212,513 electorates out of which 566,063 are females and 646,450 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports. Thus this constituency, which accounted for around eight lakh voters in its first Lok Sabha elections fought in 2009, has been a Congress bastion from the earliest times.

Assembly Segments:
The Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency covers more than one district, as the nine assembly segments, which comprise it are scattered over many regions. While five of the assembly segments of Loharu, Badhra, Dadri, Bhiwani and Tosham belong to the Bhiwani district, the remaining four assembly constituencies cover the entire district of Mahendragarh. This constituency covers the whole district of Mahendragarh and a major portion of the Bhiwani district.

About Bhiwani- Mahendragarh:

Though, the region of this Lok Sabha constituency has a considerably rich agrarian economy, the two districts of Bhiwani and Mahendragarh have some small scale industries which are the backbone of the economy. However, this constituency has been announced as one of the most backward regions in Haryana, receiving regular funds from the Government of India under the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGFP).

Present Political Scenario:

Former CM, Bansilal’s grand daughter and sitting Congress MP, Shruti Chaudhary is in trouble here. BJP has nominated recently joined Congress MLA, Dharambir Singh, who has considerable clout in this region.

This could well be a three-cornered fight, Apart from Jats, Aroras and Khatri voters play a crucial role here (4-5 lakh votes).

About the Constituency:

The Gurgaon Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 9) consists of 1,244,437 number of electorates in totality, of these 664,532 are males and 579,905 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. According to the Delimitation of Parliamentary and Constituencies Order of 2008, the parliamentary constituency of Gurgaon again came into existence in 2008. This constituency is politically relevant, not only in the state of Haryana, but in the larger politics of the country.

Assembly Segments:
The Gurgaon constituency was made operational by merging together four assembly segments of erstwhile Faridabad parliamentary constituency and five assembly segments of erstwhile Mahendragarh parliamentary constituency. The number of assembly constituencies of the parliamentary constituency adjusted as nine assembly segments, out of which Bawal and Pataudi assembly segments are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes.

About Gurgaon:
The Gurgaon city which is an integral part of the parliamentary constituency is part of the administrative headquarters as well as the Municipal Corporation of the district. The district is one of the most advanced regions with a whopping population count of 15,14,432 people as per the 2011 census data. 
The economy of the Gurgaon parliamentary constituency thrives on a strong industrial base, as Gurgaon is known as the Millennium City, contributing to be rated as the third richest city in the country, by housing around 250 large-scale and medium-scale industries. Traditionally however, Gurgaon has been an agricultural district. This parliamentary constituency of Gurgaon has some renowned entertainment hubs across the city.
