About Wayanad:
It is situated in the Wayanad district, which lies in the northeastern parts of Kerala and houses various tribal groups of the state. With a population of 816,558, as per the 2011 Census, the Wayanad district is the least populated region in Kerala.
Economically, the Wayanad district is dependent primarily on agriculture, which constitutes the bulk of the economy. Besides rice, which is an important crop grown in the district, others are oranges, pepper, cocoa, vanilla and tea. This district has not witnessed any major urbanisation owing to a relatively heavy tribal presence, and thus remains one of the poorest districts in the state. This constituency of Wayanad has been enlisted as one of the 250 economically backward districts of the country. Thus, the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme of the government sustains the economic needs of this district.

About Chatra:
Chatra covered the vast areas of Hazaribag, Gaya and Palamu. It was only after the reorganisation of the states that the districts of Chatra and Latehar were incorporated into this constituency. Like most of the districts in Jharkhand, Chatra, Latehar and Palamu are economically insufficient, thus coming under the purview of special privileges given by the government, such as the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme. This constituency is part of the Red Corridor, due to the frequent infiltrations of the Maoists.
Present Political Scenario:
The fight is likely to be mainly between independent MP, Inder Singh Namdhari and RJD here.

About the Constituency:
Witnessing tough fights between the two national parties, namely the Congress and the BJP, is the Parliamentary constituency of Lohardaga. It is one of the 14 parliamentary seats allotted to the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. This constituency is reserved for ST candidates. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Lohardaga Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 12) were 981,666 of which 475,585 are females and 506,081 are males.
Assembly Segments:
Out of the five assembly segments which constitute this parliamentary constituency of Lohardaga, Mandar and Lohardaga lie within the geographic boundaries of the Ranchi and Lohardaga districts, respectively. Each of the five assembly constituencies is reserved for the Scheduled Tribes candidates.

||
Mandar (ST) |
Gumla (ST) |
Lohardaga (ST) |
Sisai (ST) |
Bishnupur (ST) |
About Lohardaga:
These districts, which house the Lohardaga constituency, are part of the Red Corridor, owing to the massive number of Maoist insurgencies witnessed in these regions. Although this area is renowned for its rich mineral reserves such as bauxite and laterite, these districts of Gumla, Lohardaga and Ranchi have been identified as economically backward districts. These are thus being funded through the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme.
Present Political Scenario:
High Stakes in Political Bargaining
BJP has re-nominated sitting MP Sudarshan Bhagat who had narrowly defeated Congress’s old warhorse, Rameshwar Oraon in 2009.
Ex IPS Arun Oraon is now with the BJP but was expecting to get the party ticket here and it is not yet clear how he would react to ticket denial.
If Arun Oraon works for the BJP then it would be an easy victory for Sudarshan Bhagat, else it’s a tight contest, especially if Chamra Linda, the sitting independent MLA of Gumla doesn’t contest. Thus the victory of BJP or Congress here could be decided by two external leaders – Arun Oraon and Chamra Linda.

About the Constituency:
The Kodarma Parliamentary constituency is one of the 14 Lok Sabha seats allotted to the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. This constituency is politically significant as it remained a vote-bank bastion of the BJP, before becoming a stronghold of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P), soon after the latter’s formation. The total number of electorates in the Kodarma Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 5) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,390,428 of which 725,749 are males and 664,679 are females. The Kodarma constituency is spread across the entire Koderma District, while covering parts of the Giridih and Hazaribagh districts.
Assembly Segments:
Out of the six assembly segments which make up Kodarma, Jamua is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

About Kodarma:
Throughout the later decades of the 20th century, the large district of Hazaribagh was split to form a number of smaller districts, such as Giridih in 1976 and Koderma in 1999. This geographical expanse of the Kodarma Parliamentary constituency is historic, as this region has had a glorious history of tribal rebellions, especially during the fierce anti-British struggle in the country. Today, owing to frequent Maoist attacks which make the region volatile, the Kodarma constituency is part of the Red Corridor. Being economically underdeveloped districts, Koderma, Giridih and Hazaribagh are under special purview of the government’s economic schemes.
Present Political Scenario:
Tough Seat for BJP
AVIP seat as it is represented by ex CM, Babulal Marandi of the JVM. BJP has nominated the best possible candidate against Mr Marandi, the sate unit president, Ravindra Kumar Rai, who has half-a-chance of upsetting the Marandi applecart.
Where BJP can find it tough?
If BJP has to wrest this seat, then it has to improve its performance among OBC voters, especially in Jamua and Bagodar assembly segments as tribal vote in any case may go to JVM.

Political Background:
Although a stronghold of the Congress since its formative years, the Palamu seat has remained with the BJP for the most part of the neo-liberal period, starting from the 1991 Lok Sabha elections. The two most prominent leaders here are Braj Mohan Ram of the BJP and Kamala Kumari of the Congress, who were elected as MPs from this Lok Sabha seat several times. Both the districts of Garhwa and Palamu have been identified as economically underdeveloped districts of the country, thus coming under the Government of India’s Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme.
