Kolkata Municipal poll to be held on April 18
KOLKATA: The State Election Commission (SEC) issued notification for the forthcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, which will be held on April 18. The SEC issued the notification after the state issued the same on Monday.

According to sources in the SEC, the KMC polls will be held on April 18 and counting is scheduled on April 28.

"The last date for filing nomination is March 23 and March 24 has been fixed for scrutiny of nominations. The last date for the withdrawal of nomination is March 26," an SEC official said.
According to an SEC official, since the possibility of getting central force looks grim, they are depending on other security measures to ensure free and fair polls.

"There will be 18 vehicles that will have camera facilities and the vehicles will move in all the 144 wards of KMC," the official added.
Asked if elections to other municipalities will be held on April 25, as wanted by the government, the official said, "The state is yet to issue notification in this regard. Once they do so, we will issue the notification simultaneously."
