PMK founder S. Ramadoss asserted on Tuesday that the party was not caste-based and will assume power in the State after the next year’s Assembly election.

The PMK has grown steadily, and will stage a surprise as was done by Aam Aadmi Party in New Delhi. The Party did a mistake by aligning with either the DMK or the AIADMK in the past. Voters have started considering the PMK as the right alternative, Mr. Ramadoss said.

The party had started preparing for the elections last year, Mr. Ramadoss said, addressing a meeting of general council presided by the party’s State deputy general secretary Mahendran at Bhavani.

Later, talking to media persons, Mr. Ramadoss said the next government will be formed under the leadership of PMK Youth Wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss, and promised immediate formation of Lokayukta, revamp of education system, complete attention to farmers’ needs, and setting right of all water bodies.

Alliance

On relations with BJP, Mr. Ramadoss said his party had already made it clear that alliance formation will be decided only at the time of elections. As far as the PMK was concerned, NDA does not exist since there was no Common Minimum Program under the regime of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, BJP or any other party accepting the leadership of Mr. Anbumani Ramadoss were welcome to join hands with PMK, Mr. Ramadoss said.
