 About Hazaribagh:

The district of Ramgarh was formed in 2007, by being carved out of the Hazaribagh district. While Hazaribagh has been recognized as an economically backward district, Ramgarh, which has rich coal and mineral reserves, is one of the primary industrial hubs in Jharkhand, housing some of the most significant large-scale industries of sponge iron, steel, refractory and thermal power and cement.

The district of Hazaribagh is part of the Red Corridor, as this region often faces the brunt of the whims of the Red Labels. Thus, the Hazaribagh constituency is one of the most political volatile segments of the parliament.

Political Background:

Yashwant Sinha, former Finance Minister of India is the MP from the Hazaribagh constituency, representing the BJP. He has returned to the Hazaribagh seat for a total of 3 terms, making this parliamentary constituency much coveted and contested.

Present Political Scenario:

A very few Constituency where BJP  has an hold of minority votes

Now a fight of the dynasties as Congress has re-nominated the royal, Saurabh Narayan Singh who is also a two-time MLA and as if on cue, BJP has nominated Jayant Sinha whose father, Yashwant Sinha, has represented this constituency many times and has decent rapport with the voters (including minorities). In this upper-caste battle between BJP and Congress, the OBC and minority votes may prove to be crucial in the end analysis.

Congress will use Lalu Prasad Yadav and BJP has its prime-ministerial candidate Modi to sway the OBC voters here. This is also a rare constituency where Muslims have very good working relationship with a BJP leader.

About Ranchi:

A politically significant parliamentary constituency is the seat of Ranchi in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. Significance about the Assembly Segments:

Out of the six Vidhan Sabha segments which make up this parliamentary constituency, Khijri and Kanke have been reserved for the marginalised sections of society. The Ichagarh assembly segment spreads across the Seraikela Kharsawan district, while the remaining five segments are part of the Ranchi district. Both these districts of Ranchi and Seraikela Kharsawan are in the list of economically backward districts, owing to the frequent Maoist attacks which take place in this region. Political Background:

Covering portions of the districts of Seraikela Kharsawan and Ranchi, this constituency has remained a stronghold of the Congress, although from 1991 to 1999 the seat was in the hands of the BJP.

Two of the most prominent political leaders in this constituency are Ram Tahal Choudhary of the BJP and Subodh Kant Sahay of the Congress.

Present Political Scenario:

Why it may again turn out to be tough seat for BJP?

Ram Tahal Chaudhary has lost this seat twice narrowly to Congress’s Subodh Kant Sahay and he may well repeat that feat again in 2014! Former DGP and Cricket Administrator Amithabh Chaudhary is contesting on a JVM ticket making it a triangular contest.

Ram Tahal Chaudhary had won this seat thrice in 96, 98 and 99, but that was at the height of a BJP wave here when Jharkhand state was promised by the party in an undivided Bihar – now, it is a cheque that has already been encashed.
