About the Constituency:
One of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies of Odisha, Sambalpur Parliamentary Constituency was formed before the 1952 elections and consists of seven Vidhan Sabha segments, of which one is reserved for the SC category and one for the ST category. The Sambalpur Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 3) consists of 1,233,251 number of electorates in totality, of these 636,315 are males and 596,936 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests.

About Sambalpur:
It covers the districts of Sambalpur and parts of the districts of Deogarh and Angul. The second most populated city of Western Odisha, Sambalpur is the headquarters of the district and is located on the eastern banks of Mahanadi.
According to the census Indian data of 2011, the city had a population of over 183,383 and the urban agglomeration of Sambalpur is home to about 2,70,000, of which 52% comprises of males. It has a sex ratio of 938 females for every 1,000 males and an average literacy rate of 86%, of which male literacy rate is 91% and female literacy rate is 81%. Sambalpuri is the most spoken language although Oriya, Urdu, Hindi and English are mostly used for educational and official reasons. The city has several prominent educational institutions including the VSS Medical College and Silicon Institute of Technology. The economy is mostly trade dependent and the city also has handloom and textile industries as well as coal fields. The city’s road network is connected to the State Highway SH-10.

About Munger:
Out of the 38 administrative districts which comprise the state of Bihar, one of the most important is Munger. This district has a very high literacy rate (73.3%), which is higher than that of the state of Bihar. It is thus home to some of the most renowned educational institutes. The district has a population of 1,359,054, and has as its administrative headquarters, the town of Munger. The district, however, has been recognized as one of the 36 districts in the state which are economically backward, and are thus funded by the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme of the Government of India.
Political Background:
This constituency, formerly known as Monghyr, was initially a stronghold of the Indian National Congress. However, for the last couple of decades it has been known for the alternating political presence of both the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Janata Dal (United) in the Lok Sabha elections.

About Kolar:
This constituency covers the entire district of Kolar, which is the easternmost district of Karnataka. Known as the ‘Golden Land of India’ for its rich reserves of gold fields, this district is economically resplendent. However, these gold fields were closed in the year 2003, with the deposits nearing exhaustion. The district primarily survives on agriculture, sericulture and floriculture. This district is also termed the 'Land of Silk, Milk and Gold', owing to its superior quality of these products. Some of the famous trading markets in the area are Kolar sericulture and agriculture market at Kondarajanahalli, mango trading market at Srinivaspura, besides a number of jewellery shops in the Kolar Gold Fields.

About the Constituency:
Spread across the entire district of Koppal and parts of Raichur and Bellary, is the Lok Sabha constituency of Koppal in the state of Karnataka. As one of the 28 Lok Sabha seats which belong to this southern Indian state.
According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Koppal Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 8) were 1,363,431 of which 684,606 are females and 678,825 are males.
Assembly Segments:
Koppal comprises eight assembly segments.
Out of these, the segments of Maski, Siruguppa and Kanakagiri are reserved for candidates belonging to the marginalised sections of the society, namely the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, respectively. The majority of the Vidhan Sabha segments lie in the Koppal district, while Siruguppa lies in the Bellary District and the segments of Sindhanur and Maski cover the Raichur District, respectively.

About Koppal:
Previously referred to as ‘Kopana Nagara’, and known for the partial presence of the World Heritage Center of Hampi, Koppal is an administrative district in Karnataka. The economy of this parliamentary constituency is sustained primarily on agriculture, although Raichur has some of the most expansive gold resources in the country. Some of the important crops grown in this region are groundnut, cereals, rice, cotton, jowar, sunflower, and other crops.

BJP has changed its sitting MP and has nominated former JDS MLA, Karadi Sanganna, who had joined the party during the ‘Operation Lotus’ phase.
This is a seat where there is a large presence of Kuruba and OBC voters, so it is a prestige contest for CM, Siddaramaiah,.
This is one seat that could go to the wires, as it also has areas where both BSY and Sriramulu have influence over voters.
