About Latur:

Latur, one amongst the 48 constituencies of Maharashtra, is an SC reserved parliamentary constituency. The Latur Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 41) consists of 1,509,987 number of electorates in totality, of these 792,711 are males and 717,276 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. Post the 2008 delimitation of constituencies, it now comprises of 6 Vidhan Sabha segments.

About Latur:

It belongs to the Latur District and is a municipal council here as well as serves as the headquarters of the taluka and district. The city of Latur has a population of about 4,00,000 of which 52% constitutes males. 

Latur lies in the Marathwada region of the state, on the Balaghat Plateau at a height of over 600 metres. It sprawls over an area of 96.5 sq km. The National Highway NH 204 passes through the city. It has a literacy rate of 75% and is renowned for its educational facilities. The public and private schools of Latur are affiliated to either the state board or to CBSE and ICSE. Currently, all colleges in the city are under the SRTMU Nanded University but Latur is rumoured to have its own university soon. 

Latur is a major trade centre of the state as well as the country’s largest centre for soyabean trade. It is famous for the production of edible oils, sugarcane and fruits. Brands like Videocon, Kirti Gold and Tinna’s oils are prominent industries here.

About Rajgarh:

Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 29 parliamentary constituencies in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is an important seat as the Rajgarh constituency has witnessed some prominent leaders of the Indian National Congress in power. The Rajgarh Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 20) has a total of 1,261,062 electorates out of which 595,867 are females and 665,195 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.  The total number of electorates in the parliamentary constituency of Rajgarh, as per the 2009 Lok Sabha elections is 12,61,510.

Assembly Segments:

The parliamentary constituency of Rajgarh covers not only the entire district of Rajgarh, but also portions of the districts of Guna and Shajapur, as the eight assembly constituencies are spread over these districts. Out of the eight assembly segments, Sarangpur is reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes.  

 Political Background:

This seat has been one of the important strongholds of the Indian National Congress, which won the constituency in majority of the elections, although the Bharatiya Lok Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party have also won the seat in some elections.

About Tikamgarh:

Coming into existence for the first time in 2008 as per the Delimitation Commission’s Order, the Tikamgarh parliamentary constituency is one of the 29 Lok Sabha seats allotted to the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The Tikamgarh Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 6) has a total of 1,209,553 electorates out of which 557,437 are females and 652,116 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

 Assembly Segments:

With right Vidhan Sabha segments, namely Tikamgarh, Niwari, Jatara, Khargapur, Chhatarpur, Prithvipur, Maharajpur and Bijawar, this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. 

It is spread over the entire district of Tikamgarh and parts of the Chhatarpur District. Before the delimitation of the parliamentary and assembly constituencies in 2008, all the assembly segments except Prithvipur, which now belongs to the Tikamgarh parliamentary constituency, were part of the erstwhile Khajuraho Parliamentary constituency. 

About Tikamgarh:

Economically, both the districts of Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur are dependent on government funds, having been recognized as backward by the Ministry of Panchyati Raj. The total number of electorates in the Tikamgarh constituency is 1,207,039, as per the 2009 Lok Sabha election data. The Tikamgarh constituency has a number of tourist attractions, most important ones being the Temple City of Khajuraho, the world-famous Ramraja Temple in Orchha, the Ajinath Temple in Bandhaji, the Dhubela Museum, the Ken Gharial Sanctuary, the Panna National Park, and the Ranneh Falls, among others.

About Morena:

The Parliamentary constituency of Morena, covering the entire districts of Morena and Sheopur in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is one of the 29 Lok Sabha seats which represent Madhya Pradesh. The Morena Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 1) has a total of 1,339,897 electorates out of which 601,807 are females and 738,090 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports. It was made a stand-alone constituency in the year 1967, and also reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

With eight legislative assembly segments, Only the Ambah assembly segment is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

About Morena:

The birthplace of men like Paan Singh Tomar and BJP personality Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the region of Morena, also known as Muraina, covers the Sheopur District and is rich in tourist appeal. Some of the popular places to visit are Doob Kund, Ram Janaki Temple, Sheopur Fort, Vijaypur Durg, Rameshwar Sangam, Jinn ki Masjid and many other popular locales, foremost being the Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary. Though an agricultural land, the region covered by the Morena Parliamentary constituency has been announced as one of the backward regions as per the 2006 Ministry of Panchayati Raj, thereby being dependent on regular governmental funds.

About Sagar:

Out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats which are representative of the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, one of them is the Parliamentary constituency of Sagar. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Sagar Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 5) were 1,185,166 of which 537,034 are females and 648,132 are males. This seat has been reserved for the Scheduled Caste members since the elections of 1967. This Lok Sabha seat is spread across the districts of Sagar and Vidisha, which it covers in portions. The total number of voters as per the statistics of the 2009 Lok Sabha elections is 1,185,245.
