About the Constituency:
One of the 80 constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur covers the urban area of the Kanpur district. The Kanpur Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 43) has a total of 1,390,055 electorates out of which 617,664 are females and 772,391 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports. Formed prior to 1951 constituency elections.

This constituency currently comprises of five Vidhan Sabha segments and has a total number of 1,376,332 voters.

About Kanpur:

It is the headquarters of the Kanpur District and belongs to the Kanpur Division. The city of Kanpur, nicknamed as the "Leather City", has an elevation of 126 m and spreads over an area of 605 sq km. Several world renowned institutions are located here including IIT Kanpur and Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. One of the largest leather producers and exporters, Kanpur also has textile, chemical and many other industries. National Highways NH-2, NH-25, NH-86 and NH-91 connect Kanpur to a large road network with several major cities all over the country.

Demography:

With an average literacy rate of 70.36%, Mathura has a male literacy rate of 71.92% and a female literacy rate of 60.25%.

This urban seat which Congress had won in the previous three elections through Sriprakash Jaiswal.

About the Constituency
One of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, the parliamentary constituency of Farrukhabad came into existence prior to the 1952 elections. The total number of electorates in the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 40) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,306,214 of which 722,293 are males and 583,921 are females.

About Farrukhabad:

The Farrukhabad District, created in 1997, covers a total area of 2,279 sq km and its headquarters are in Fatehgarh city. Belonging to the Kanpur Division, the district comprises of three tehsils; Farrukhabad, Amritpur and Kaimganj. It is one of the 250 backward districts to receive funds from the Backward Regions Grant Funds Programme. The region is one of the largest potato producers and crops of wheat and pulses are also cultivated here. Three state highways pass through the district.

 

Demographic Pattern:

With a total population of over 1,887,000, it is the 250th most densely populated district of the country and has a sex ratio of 865 females per 1000 males. The population growth over 2001-2011 was over 20%. With an average literacy rate of 69.04%, the district has a male literacy rate of over 77% and a female literacy rate of just about 60%. It has a population density of 864 people per sq km and the child population is over 302,000.

The Parliamentary Constituency of Etah is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state of Uttar Pradesh formed prior to the 1952 elections. The Etah Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 22) has a total of 1,278,295 electorates out of which 569,772 are females and 708,523 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

The administrative headquarters of Etah district is situated in the city of Etah which is located in the western part of the state at a distance of 207 km from the national capital, New Delhi. This town lies at an average elevation of 170 meters. This district is part of the Aligarh Division. Hindi is the official language of Etah. The economy of this city is primarily dependent on agriculture. Etah has a promising number of notable schools and colleges, both government and private. National Highway NH 91 passes through this city.

 

Demography:

According to the census data of 2011, Etah has a total population of 131,023 of which 53% are males and 47% are females. It has a sex ratio of 863 females per 1000 males. 14% of the population is below the age of six and it has a sex ratio of 873 females per 1000 males. The city of Etah has an average literacy of 85.62 % with male literacy at 73% and female literacy at 63%. It is dominated by Rajputs and Yadavs, 66% of the population being Hindus.

One of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur was formed in 1952 and comprises of five Vidhan Sabha segments of which one is reserved for the SC category. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Saharanpur Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 1) were 1,298,132 of which 589,706 are females and 708,426 are males.

About Saharanpur:

Saharanpur is a municipality and headquarters of the district of Saharanpur. It is situated about 140 km from Chandigarh and 170 km from Delhi at an average elevation from 269 m. Hindi is the official language here although Awadhi and Urdu are pretty common as well. The city has many schools and colleges including a Paper Pulp Technology Institute. Economically, the district is dependent mostly on agriculture which includes cultivation of sugarcane, rice and potatoes. Cotton industries and coal mines are also located here. ITC Limited is based here. National Highway, NH-74 passes through the city and the city is also a major junction of the railways.

 

Demographic pattern:

The district sprawled over a 3,860 sq km and has a total population of 3,464,228 of which 51% consists of males and 49% consists of females. About 14% of the population is below the age of six and the sex ratio of 887 females per 1000 males. The growth rate of the population over 2001-2011 was 19.59%. The average literacy rate of Saharanpur is 70.49% with male and female literacy rates are 78.28% and 61.74% respectively.

Sitting MLA of Saharanpur, Raghav Lakhan Pal has been given the ticket from here which is a decent choice, notwithstanding the fact that sitting MP Jagadish Rana of the BSP was interested in BJP ticket. In the polarized atmosphere prevailing in this region, chances are wide open.
