About Tiruvallur:

Formed post the Presidential notification of the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies of 2008, the Lok Sabha Constituency of Thiruvallur is one of Tamil Nadu’s 39 constituencies. The total number of electorates in the Tiruvallur Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 1) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,204,209 of which 605,882 are males and 598,327 are females.

About Tiruvallur:

 It represents the Tiruvallur District which is located to the north eastern end of the state, along the Bay of Bengal. Its headquarters are in the city of Tiruvallur and it has nine talukas with over 800 villages. Sprawling over an area of 3,425 sq km, it has a population of 3,725,697.

With a population density of 1,049 inhabitants per sq km, it had a growth rate of over 35% from 2001 to 2011 making it the 70th most populated district of India and the 4th most populated district of the state. The sex ratio is 983 females per 1000 males, with almost 11% of the population being under the age of six. The average literacy rate of the district is 83% and over 54% of the population is urban. The official language of the area is Tamil. It is a highly developed district and has several avenues of industrial production. The National Highway NH-205 passes through the district.

About Chidambaram:

Reserved for the SC category, the Lok Sabha constituency of Chidambaram is one of Tamil Nadu’s 39 parliamentary constituencies. 1,126,828 is the total electorate count in the Chidambaram Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 27). Out of these 566,700 number of electorates are males and the remaining 560,128 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest. It came into existence in 1957, comprises of six segments and has 1,126,828 voters.

About Chidambaram:

Chidambaram is a town of the Cuddalore District, under the Chidambaram Taluk. Covering a total area of 5 sq km, it has an altitude of 3 m. It is 150 km away from Chennai and lies close to Bay of Bengal.

According to census data of 2011, the town has a population of about 58,000 with 51% female majority and 49% males. Over 6,100 are under the age of six and the sex ratio is 1,030 females for every 1000 males. SCs and STs comprise of 8% and 0.83% of the population respectively. Almost 10% of the population is below the national poverty line. The average literacy rate is 89% and almost 30% of the population resides in slums. Tourism is an important industry here and the city has several prominent temples. Cottage industries, agriculture, small scale industries and retail are the economic activities associated with the people here. The infamous Annamalai University is also located here. The city has a large road network connected to the National Highway NH-45A.

One of the 39 parliamentary constituencies of the state of Tamil Nadu, Vellore is a city in the Vellore District of the city. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Vellore Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 8) were 1,010,067 of which 505,472 are females and 504,595 are males. It was formed prior to the 1951 elections and comprises of six segments of which two are reserved for the SC category.

About Vellore:

The city of Vellore is the centre of administration of the Vellore District and lies in the Tamil Nadu region. It is located on the Palar River about 82 kms away fromTiruvannamalai and about 145 kms away fromChennai. It stands at an elevation of over 200 metres and covers an area of over 10.50 sq kms. 

The city has a population of over 1,80,000 with 10% population under the age of six. About 49% of the population is male and the sex ratio is 1,032 females for every 1,000 males. Its average literacy rate is 87% and is considered an important technological and medical related education centre in India. It has several prominent research facilities and other educational institutions. The urban workforce constitutes about 44% of the population and the leading industries in the area are of leather, agriculture and other services. National Highways NH-46 and NH-4 connect the city to several major towns and cities.

About Viluppuram:

 The town of Viluppuram is located in the Viluppuram District about 160 km from Chennai. The district has nine talukas covering an area of 7,194 at a height of 171 m. 

It has a population of 3,458,873 with about 1,741,000 being males and the district has a sex ratio of 987 females for every 1000 males. The population density is 481 inhabitants per sq km and the population growth rate was 16.84% over the decade 2001-2011. Viluppuram has a child population of 404,106. Its average literacy rate is 72% with 81% male literacy and 63% female literacy. Prevalent languages in the area include Tamil and English. The district is given financial aid by the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme and is one of the country’s 250 most backward districts in terms of economy. The road network of the district includes several National Highways, NH-45, NH-45A, NH-45C and NH-234.

About Coimbatore:

One of the 39 parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore Lok Sabha Constituency represents the Coimbatore District and has 1,163,781 voters. The Coimbatore Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 20) consists of 1,163,781 number of electorates in totality, of these 591,518 are males and 572,263 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. This constituency came into existence in 1952 and comprises of six Vidhan Sabha segments.

About Coimbatore:

Coimbatore City is the district headquarters of the Coimbatore District and is the second largest city of the state. It is the sixteenth largest urban agglomeration of the country and is situated in the western region of the state. The district has an average elevation of 400 m and covers an area of 4730 sq km. Tamil and English are the official languages here.

As per 2011 India census, Coimbatore District has a population of over 3,458,000 people of which 319,332 are under the age of six. About 51% of the population is male and 49% of the population is female. The sex ratio is 1000 females for every 1000 males. The average literacy rate here is 84% with male literacy rate at 90% and female literacy rate at 89%. About 91% of the population is Hindu. The textile industry as well as poultry farming is very vital to the economy of the area. Three National Highways, NH-47, NH-67 and NH-209 are connected to the district.
