About Dharmapuri:

Formed in 1977, the Dharmapuri Lok Sabha Constituency represents the district of Dharmapuri and is one of Tamil Nadu’s 39 parliamentary constituencies. The Dharmapuri Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 10) consists of 1,069,601 number of electorates in totality, of these 547,052 are males and 522,549 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests.

About Dharmapuri:

Dharmapuri District has its headquarters located in the city of Dharmapuri and is bounded by various districts from all sides. The district comprises of six Taluks and sprawls over an area of 4,497 sq km. Tamil and English are the predominantly used languages here.

With a population density of over 330 people per sq km and a growth rate of 17%, the total population of the district, as per the census of 2011 is 1,507,000 of which males are 774,303 and females are 732,540. Child population comprises of 168,000 and the sex ratio is 946 females per 1000 males. The average literacy rate here is 69% with male literacy rate at 77% and female literacy rate at 60%. Tourism and agriculture including mango cultivation boost the economy of the district. Hindu is the primary religious group here and several temples are situated in the area. The district is well connected via the National Highway NH-7.

The town of Kancheepuram is the district headquarters of the Kancheepuram District and has a total area of 12 sq km. It lies on the eastern side of the state along the Bay of Bengal about 72 km away from Chennai at a height of 84 m.

As per 2011 census, Kancheepuram District sprawls over an area of 4,483 sq km and has a population of about 3,999,000 with 53% male majority and 11% child population. The sex ratio here is over 980 females per 1000 males. It is the 59th most populated district of the country and has a density of 930 people per sq km. The average literacy rate is 85%, with 90% male literacy and 80% female literacy. Known as “Silk City”, weaving silk is an important part of the work culture of the district along with agriculture and tourism. Trade is also flourishing here. The Nationla Highway NH-4 passes by the outskirts of the city of Kancheepuram.

About Sriperumbudur:

Sriperumbudur Town is at a distance of 40 km from Chennai and is the birthplace of one of the most prominent Vaishnava saint. This is also where the former Prime Minister of our country, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. Previously known as Boondipoori, the city has an average elevation of 37 m. 

As per the census of 2001, a population of just over 86,000 resides here with 50% each of male and female population. With 12% consisting of children below the age of six, the sex ratio here is 985 female for every 1000 males. The average literacy rate is 71% which includes 78% male literacy and 64% female literacy. About Tiruvannamalai:

Tiruvannamalai is the district headquarters of Tiruvannamalai and is located at the foot of Annamalai Hills. With an area of 16.3 sq km and an average elevation of 171 m, it is located 185 km away from Chennai and 210 km away from Bangalore. Tamil and English are the prevalent languages in the area. 

As per 2011 census, the city of Tiruvannamalai has a population of 144,683 of which 72,351 are males and 72,332 are females. The child population is of 14,530 and the sex ratio is 1000 females per 1000 males. The average literacy rate here is 82% with male literacy and 78% female literacy. SCs comprise of 13.30% and STs comprise of 1.3% of the population.
