BJP releases the list of candidates

The BJP has released the list of candidates for 20 posts of councillor for the Karnal Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for December 16. 17 of them are new faces.

District BJP president Jagmohan Anand said the party leadership has fielded Naveen Kumar from ward 1 (SC), Gurpreet Bhinder from ward 2, Babli from ward 3, Neha Rani from ward 4, Subhash Kashyap from ward 5, Neelam Devi from ward 6 (SC women), Jitender Sharma from ward 7, state BJP executive body member Ashok Bhandari’s daughter-in-law Megha Bhandari from ward 8, district BJYM president Mukesh Arora from ward 9 and former nominated councillor Vir Vikram Kumar from ward 10.

Ramanjeet Kaur has been fielded from ward 11, former senior Deputy Mayor Krishan Garg’s daughter-in-law Monika Garg from ward 12, Vijay Singla from ward 13, former councillor Ram Chander Kala from ward 14 and Sonia Pandit from ward 15.

Rajni Parocha has been given a chance from ward 16, Gaje Singh Saini from ward 17, former councillor Dimple Rani’s husband Harish Kumar from ward 18, former councillor Bhagwan Dass Aghi’s son Rajesh Aghi from ward 19 and Sudhir Yadav from ward 20.

Reserved wards:  6

Reserved wards for SCs: 1,6,14 and 16

Reserved wards for SC women: 6 and 16

Reserved wards for BCs:  17 and 20

The post for Mayor reserved for a woman from the general category.
