Kolkata Civic poll: TMC candidate attacked in Karaya
KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress candidate for Kolkata Municipal Corporation's ward 59, Jolly Bose, was allegedly assaulted by workers of a rival group of the party in Karaya's Darapara on Sunday morning.
Jolly had to be admitted to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital for treatment. She has lodged an FIR naming a few persons of her own party. However, no arrests have yet been made.

In the 2009 civic polls, a CPM candidate won ward 59 by a margin of less than 100 votes. However, this year, the seat has been reserved for a woman. Jolly is the wife of Trinamool's ward 59 president Rabin Bose.
Election Schedule
Jolly and her followers started their door-to-door poll campaign on Sunday morning when some persons allegedly lunged at her from behind. They caught hold of her and started dragging her on the road as she fell. Two women who were with Jolly were also punched on their faces. Others who came to the rescue of the women were also beaten up.
Election Result:
Both Rabin and Trinamool MLA Swarnakamal Saha, who was campaigning with Jolly, did not rule out the possibility of party infighting behind the attack.
"What has happened is regrettable. I had gone to the hospital and spoken to those who were injured. We are looking into it. We will take strong action against anyone who is found involved in the attack," Saha said. Police said they were probing the matter.
