Reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled caste category, the Amalapuram constituency in Andhra Pradesh is a Lok Sabha seat. It is one of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies that belong to the coastal state of Andhra Pradesh in the south of India. The total number of electorates in the Amalapuram Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 24) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,275,287 of which 631,884 are males and 643,403 are females.  The constituency gets its name from the town and municipality called Amalapuram, which is part of the East Godavari district.

 

Unknown Facts:

Economically the region of Amalapuram is dependent on agriculture, as it is fed by the rich Godavari River which makes the soil fertile for the growth of crops such as paddy and coconut. Gas-based power plants and oil refineries also add to the rich revenue gathered from this constituency.

Demographic Significance:

As per the 2008 Orders of the Delimitation Commission of India, this Lok Sabha constituency is dotted with seven assembly constituencies, each of which falls under the East Godavari district. This constituency has a literacy rate of 77%, which is higher than the national average of 59.5%, and therefore is considered a premier region for educational facilities in the state.

About the Constituency:

The northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in India is represented by two Parliamentary constituencies in the Indian Parliament. One these is Arunachal East. The Arunachal East Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 2) has a total of 301,173 electorates out of which 147,025 are females and 154,148 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

 

 Political Background:

This constituency has primarily been a stronghold of the Indian National Congress from its formative years, although the BJP and the Arunachal Congress have won the seat once each.

About the Constituency:

One of the two Lok Sabha constituencies which belong to the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is the parliamentary constituency of Arunachal West. The Arunachal West Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 1) consists of 433,368 number of electorates in totality, of these 215,516 are males and 217,852 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests.
