About the Constituency:

One of the 42 constituencies of the state of West Bengal, Darjeeling Lok Sabha Constituency was formed prior to the 1957 elections and has 1,215,000 electors. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Darjeeling Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 4) were 1,215,464 of which 587,824 are females and 627,640 are males. It comprises of seven assembly segments, two of which are reserved for the SC category and one is reserved for the ST category.

 About Darjelling:

It is the district headquarters of the Darjeeling district and is located in the Lesser Himalayas. The city stands at an average elevation of 2045 m and covers an area of 10.5 sq km.

The city has a population of over 132,000 with a child population is 7,382. About 50% of the population is male and the sex ratio is 1005 females for every 1000 males. The average literacy rate of Darjeeling is around 93%. Bengali, Nepali, Hindi and English are widely spoken. The city of Darjeeling is famous for its Darjeeling Tea and it is an important tourist destination. The city is the home of the famous Lloyd's Botanical Garden and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. The famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway often called 'Toy train' that connects this city to the neighboring cities has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The city has road connections to Gangtok and Kathmandu and is connected to the National Highway NH-55.

 Biggest hope for BJP in Bengal

Darjelling where former deputy leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, S.S. Ahluwalia has been given BJP ticket and has also received the crucial support of GMM. Just like 2009, when Jaswant Singh won from Darjeeling due to GMM support, BJP has a chance of repeating its lone victory in WB but has to content with Trinamool Congress’s football star Baichung Bhutia.

About the Constituency:

Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. This constituency came into existence in the year 2008 as a part of the implementation of the Presidential notification on delimitation of parliamentary constituencies, based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in the year 2002. 

Shri Praful Manoharbhai Patel is the current MP of Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency. He is a member of Nationalist Congress Party

About the Constituency:

The Jalpaiguri Parliamentary Constituency is one of West Bengal's 42 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies and came into being in the year 1962 and currently has 1,252,142 voters. The Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 3) consists of 1,252,142 number of electorates in totality, of these 662,777 are males and 589,365 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. It consists of seven legislative assembly segments, of which one is reserved for the SC category.

About Jalpaiguri

The headquarters of the Jalpaiguri District lies in the city of Jalpaiguri which has a total area of 70.29 sq km. The district has a total area of 6,245 sq km.

As per the 2011 census data, the total population of the district is 3,869,675 of which 1,983,064 are males and 1,889,782 are females. The population growth rate of Jalpaiguri was about 14% from 2001 to 2011 and it has a population density of 621 persons per sq km. About 12% of the population is under the age of six and the sex ratio of Jalpaiguri is 954 females per 1000 males. With an average literacy rate of 73.79%, which is higher than the national average, the male and female literacy rates are 79.95% and 66.23% respectively. Bengali is the official language here while Hindi, Urdu, Marwari and English are also widely spoken by the locals. Various major roads are connected to this area. The National Highway NH-31 and its extensions are connected to the Jalpaiguri District.

About Nawgong:

Nowgong parliamentary constituency, presently referred to as Nagaon, is one of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies that are representative of the north-eastern state of Assam in the Parliament. The Nawgong Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 10) consists of 1,411,331 number of electorates in totality, of these 726,396 are males and 684,935 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. Situated in the Nagaon district in the central regions of Assam, this parliamentary constituency is part of the Municipal Board in the Nagaon city.

The Nowgong or Nagaon parliamentary constituency houses the famous Kalang River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra in north-eastern India. In its importance as an administrative and urban set-up, the Nowgong city as part of the Nowgong parliamentary constituency, ranks fifth not only in size, but also in commercial significance in the state, after the cities of Guwahati, Silchar, Dibrugarh and Jorhat.

About Nawgong:

The Nagaon city in Assam is well known across the country, for its exceptionally advanced literacy rates, which are unparalleled. Being one of Assam's most populated cities with a population of 1,47,231 people, the average literacy rate in Nagaon is 93.43% wherein male and female literacy rates are as high as 98.58% and 88.08% , respectively. The Nagaon district has a population of 28,26,006 as per 2011 Census data.

  A BJP seat, where sitting MP, Rajen Gohain has been re-nominated. Here AUDF had got almost 2 lakh 50k votes last time which had helped the BJP tremendously in defeating Congress. If a similar arithmetic unfolds this time, Then BJP may emerge victorious again.

Located within the geographic boundaries of the Araria district is the Parliamentary constituency of Araria. It is one of the 40 Lok Sabha seats which belong to the eastern Indian state of Bihar. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Araria Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 9) were 1,311,225 of which 621,510 are females and 689,715 are males.

 About Araria:

 With a population of 2,806,200, as per the Census of 2011, the Araria district, which is part of the Purnia Division, is one of the most politically vital regions in the state. With agriculture as the dominant occupation, this district has been recognised as underdeveloped, and thus receives aid under the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme.

 Political Background:

This constituency was a Congress stronghold initially, before swinging towards the Janata Dal, and is finally in the hands of the BJP for the last few elections.

Sukdeo Paswan is a popular leader of this constituency, having been elected MP from here five times.
