The Delhi government had earlier suggested in the high court the option of advancing the 2017 MCD polls to September- October 2016 when elections can be held for all municipal wards.

The court'S order came on a PIL, filed by 20-year-old law student Sanjana Gahlot, on bad civic condition in her village as drain water was overflowing on all streets and filth was spread everywhere with the entire village suffering due to foul smell.

MCD Bypolls 2016 total 46 per cent turnout recorded

MCD Bypolls Ward Wise Polling Percentage 

1. Polling began at 8 am amid ample security arrangement especially in north Delhi areas
2. Out of 695 polling stations, about 200 have been identified as sensitive and ultra-sensitive and adequate security arrangement has been made in those areas.
3. North Corporation area has been found the most sensitive for polling," the state election commission has said.
4. There are a total of 6,68,870 voters entitled to exercise their franchise in the by-elections for wards falling under three corporations - SDMC (7), NDMC (4) and EDMC (2).
5. Voting will be held till 5 pm today.
6. Counting of votes will be held on May 17 and begin at the counting centres established in the 13 wards from 8 am.

Thirteen wards would finally be undergoing polls on May 15, Delhi State Election Commission announced Monday.
