The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is all set to give a tough fight in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections in the state and announced its decision to contest in all the 60 seats while assuring protection to Nagaland from being destroyed by ‘communal forces’ in connivance with regional forces. NPCC expresses determination to prevent the BJP from coming to power in Nagaland.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is all set to give a tough fight in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections in the state and announced its decision to contest in all the 60 seats while assuring protection to Nagaland from being destroyed by ‘communal forces’ in connivance with regional forces.
- The decision to kick-start the extensive campaign was taken following a meeting with AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, vice president, Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders earlier this week in Delhi.
- It can be mentioned that the ruling party in Nagaland, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) is an allied partner of the BJP-led government in Manipur.
- NPCC also informed that the Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi has agreed to kick-start the assembly election campaign and address the party’s state level convention, proposed to be held by October end. Former Finance minister and senior Congress leader, P Chidambaram will also attend the event, NPCC said.
- According to the media cell, the delegation led by NPCC president, K Therie held series of meeting to finalise.
- strategies for the upcoming assembly elections due in February/March 2018. The delegation included– vice president, V. Lasuh; general secretary, Jonathan Ao and media cell chairman, Capt. GK Zhimomi.
- It was mentioned that the main objective of Congress would be to provide clean governance with zero tolerance towards corruption. NPCC also reaffirmed its commitment “to defend freedom of faith, culture, customs, social practices and our land.” adding “Our ancestors were proud warriors and have paid with their life and blood to protect them”.
