SMC polls 2015: RSP fields youngest candidate
The youngest candidate in the upcoming Siliguri Municipal Corporation election is undergraduate student Rinku Mahato and she is contesting on an RSP ticket. A B. Com final year student of Siliguri Night College, the 22-year-old does not think it's too early for her to enter politics. She believes there are few educated, young and hardworking candidates. Rinku is contesting from Ward 1 of the SMC.

She is busy campaigning in her ward by interacting with its residents on a daily basis in spite of the fact her examinations are due from April 6-22. She is determined to give her best and is hopeful of doing well, both in her exams and the polls.

Election to the civic body is three days after her college examinations. “Drinking water crisis tops my poll agenda in Ward 1, while pollution, poor infrastructure, overflowing drains and missing pension plans are other issues,” said the undergraduate.
“If I win, I will these problems and try to make a difference in the residents’ lives through education,” she added.
