It has a population of 540,000, according to the 2011 Census of India, being the 9th most populous urban centre in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Also known as Chittur and lying in the Poini River Valley, this district of Chittoor is a leading agricultural sector, famous for crops such as sugarcane, peanuts, mangoes and grains. Industries such as Amaron Batteries and Nutrine Confectionaries, which are the nation’s leading battery house and chocolate producers, respectively, also add to the revenue of the Chittoor District. However, the region is still an economically underprivileged zone as per the Government of India indicators. The famous ancient temple of Tirupati is situated in this parliamentary constituency, drawing lakhs of pilgrims every year.

 

About the Constituency:
The Tirupati Parliamentary constituency in the state of Andhra Pradesh is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. Located in the Chittoor District in the south of Andhra Pradesh, it is one of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. 1,464,896 is the total electorate count in the Tirupati Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 40). Out of these 720,141 number of electorates are males and the remaining 744,755 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest. It has a population of 540,000, according to the 2011 Census of India, being the 9th most populous urban centre in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

This constituency houses the Vijayawada city, one of the most successful commercial centres of Andhra Pradesh. This city of Vijayawada, which is the third-largest city of Andhra Pradesh, is politically important in the national scenario. With a metropolitan population of 1,048,240, as per the 2011 Census of India, Vijayawada is industrially renowned and agriculturally rich. Both these sectors form the backbone of the economy in the Vijayawada constituency. Historically known as Bewazada, this city is fed by the Krishna River, and grows the best quality of sugarcane, rice and mango. Besides other medium- and small-scale industries, the largest hub of the automobile industry of Asia, the Jawahar Lal Nehru Auto Nagar Industrial Estate, is located in Vijayawada.

Located in the Nalgonda District of north-central Andhra Pradesh, the historically relevant region of the Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency is one of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. The Nalgonda Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 13) consists of 1,455,016 number of electorates in totality, of these 720,289 are males and 734,727 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. According to the 2001 census, this parliamentary constituency has a population of 110,651.  The size and structure of the Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency is outlined in Section 4 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950

Strong- hold of Communist Party of India (CPI),which won for a majority of the terms.

The Nalgonda District has a rebellious history of participating in the Telangana Movement and witnessing one of the fiercest struggles of this period.
