“K G Kenye is the only candidate who filed nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat in Nagaland,” an official of State Assembly Secretariat said.
With eight Congress legislators joining the ruling NPF in November last year, the 60 member Assembly has 48 NPF, 4 BJP and 8 Independent MLAs. While BJP as an ally of the NPF-led DAN government has extended support to the NPF nominee for the lone seat, eight Independent MLAs are also with NPF.
The Election Commission has decided that the aforesaid Biennial Elections to the Council of States from the above States shall be held in accordance with the following programme:-
