Imphal Municipal Council Election Live Results Schedule/Date 2016 has been released for June 2. Watch Imphal urban local body Election 2016 live voting %, BJP INC Candidates, Imphal Municipal Council Result and Imphal Municipal Council Opinion/Exit Poll. The Imphal local bodies poll Result would be declared on June 6.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), State Election Committee has come out with a list of 25 candidates who would be contesting the ensuing election to the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC).
Meanwhile the State Election Commission has issued the election schedule.

Imphal Municipal Corporation results : BJP: 5, INC: 8, IND: 4 (Latest). IMC has a total of 27 wards spread across Imphal East and Imphal West. INC won three seats in Imphal East and two in Imphal West while the BJP got four in Immphal West and only one in Imphal East. Counting for the remaining 10 seats of councilor and Ward Development Committee (WDC) still underway.

Highlights for Imphal Municipal Corporation Elections 2016
- In Imphal East 9 district and 189 district in Imphal West have been identified as hyper sensitive. In Imphal east 21 have been identified as sensitive and the remaining 36 as normal.
- The security deployment of armed and unnamed personnel for a polling station will compose of seven personnel including two women police each.
- Nine out of the 27 IMC wards have been reserved for women.
- 86 candidates from various political parties are contesting for the 27 seats
- 128 candidates are in the fray for 53 seats for ward members.
- BJP and INC have put up maximum candidates of 26 each for councillors, CPI have fielded five candidates, LJP three and JD(U) one with 25 independent candidates also in the fray.
- The fate of the candidates will be in the hand of 1,75,864 electorates including 91,814 female voters.

Election for 18 Municipal Councils and 8 Nagar Panchayats has been held and the results are declared. Congress has sweeped the elections with 105 seats with BJP as second with 60 seats.

In Thoubal, Independents won 15 seats while INC got only one. Two candidates had already been declared elected unopposed in the election held for 18 Municipal Councils in the district. INC got five seats while Independents won four in Lilong Nagar Panchayat which has nine seats. Independents got five seats while INC won four in Yairipok. BJP got seven seats, one each seats by INC and Independent in Kakching Khunou. The INC won seven seats, three by BJP and two by Independents in Kakching Municipal Council. Of the 10 seats in Jiribam Municipal Council under Imphal East, the INC and Independents got five seats each. In Imphal East’s Andro Nagar Panchayat which has 11 seats, INC got majority winning six seats. The BJP won three seats and two by Independents in the Nagar Panchayat.
The local body elections had been a prestige fight for the Okram Ibobi led Congress government in view of the upcoming state assembly polls to be held next year. The ruling Congress suffered a setback in the recent by-polls held for two assembly seats in Imphal after the BJP managed to open its account in the 60-member assembly wining both seats.
State Election Commission Secretary Mutum Radharani announced the election schedule in front of the media today at the Imphal West DC office complex.She said that election model code of conduct has been already enforced and election notification would be issued tomorrow.Altogether 279 Councillors for the equal number of Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Wards and 558 Ward Development Committee Members would be elected.
December 14 has been fixed as the last date for submission of nomination papers and December 17 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.Scrutiny would be done on December 15 .

Polling will be held between 8 am and 4 pm of January 11 and counting of votes would be done on January 15, Radharani said.
Election for Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Councillors would be held on party line but candidates for Ward Development Committee (WDC) Members would not have any party affiliation.
For the polling which would be held in 589 polling stations, the concerned DCs have been designated as respective Municipal Election Officers and the concerned SDOs have been designated as Returning Officers.
Imphal East district would elect 31 Councillors and 61 WDC Members, Bishnupur district 83 Councillors and 166 WDC Members, Imphal West 72 Councillors and 144 WC Members and Thoubal district would elect 93 Councillors and 186 WDC Members.
Altogether 2,36,302 voters are expected to exercise their right to adult franchise.
District-wise voter distribution is 14,252 in Imphal East, 61,396 in Imphal West, 61,768 in Bishnupur and 98,886 in Thoubal.
