News24-Isomes Opinion Poll: BJP benefits from colonies regularization, Kejriwal still favourite CM
New Delhi: After the ordinance to regularize illegal colonies in Delhi, the voters in these areas have shown inclination towards BJP, marginally preferring the saffron party over AAP in the upcoming Assembly elections, according to the News24-Isomes survey.
- 50 per cent of voters in the 895 illegal colonies that will be regularized in Delhi said they will vote for BJP while AAP was a close second at 44 per cent.

The survey was conducted exclusively by News24 to find out the voters’ pulse after the government’s decision to regularize illegal colonies that will benefit about 60 lakh people in the national capital.
However, people in these illegal colonies still prefer AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal as the chief ministerial candidate for Delhi giving him 49 per cent votes. 39 per cent of people preferred Union Minister Harsh Vardhan as the Chief Minister of the UT while only 1 per cent people want to see HRD Minister Smriti Irani on the post.
- In totality, 40 per cent of the respondents in Delhi said that they will vote for BJP, while 32 per cent showed faith in AAP and 10 per cent in Congress.

- Kejriwal remained the top choice for chief minister’s post with 62 per cent votes. Others were Harsh Vardhan (24 per cent), Sheila Dikshit (12 per cent), Smriti Irani (0.8 per cent) and Jagdish Mukhi (1.2 per cent).

- 57 per cent of the people in Delhi felt that Kejriwal can bring about a change in capital. But at the same time 61 per cent of people said that ‘Modi wave’ is still prevalent.
The major issues haunting the people of Delhi are unemployment, power and water supply and inflation.
- 29 per cent of people said that unemployment is the main issue that needs to be looked into while 28 per cent of people tagged power and water supply crisis in the national capital as a grave concern. Inflation is another issue that is topmost on the minds of 25 per cent of voters.
59 per cent of Sikh community in Delhi said they will vote for BJP while a whopping 71 per cent of the minority communities preferred AAP to form government in the national capital.
- Kejriwal topped as popular choice for CM candidate for both Sikh and minorities with 61 per cent and 77 per cent votes respectively.
- Minorities preferred Sheila Dikshit after Kejriwal with 20 per cent votes. BJP’s popular faces Harsh Vardhan, Smriti Irani and Jagdish Mukhi got only 1 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 1.4 per cent votes respectively.
- Harsh Vardhan was the second choice after Kejriwal among the Sikh community with 27 per cent votes.
