BJP Delhi holds 'panna pramukh' meetings in 24 Assembly seats

New Delhi: To connect with the electorate ahead of Assembly elections in the national capital, BJP's Delhi unit on Sunday implemented its "panna pramukh" strategy by holding meetings at 24 constituencies.

Under the "panna pramukh sammelan" programme, suggested by BJP President Amit Shah, the party will nominate one worker to come in contact with voters on each page of the electoral list, a statement issued by the party said.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh' (RSS) "panna pramukh" strategy allowed for deep and direct engagement with voters, and was among the crucial elements of the BJP's remarkable electoral performance.

Each worker or "panna pramukh" was given responsibility for voters on each "panna" (page) in the electoral rolls. Senior party leaders including MPs, MLAs and Councillors joined the workers at these "sammelan" (meet) and went in the meetings to encourage partymen, the statement said.

During a meet at Narela, MP Prabhat Jha claimed that in the last one year BJP MLAs worked under very tough situations in an uncertain political atmosphere and yet were able to get approvals for development schemes.

He said, "a great responsibility is on our workers to take the message of development work done by our MLAs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to every home."

BJP-Delhi President Satish Upadhyay, while addressing workers at RK Puram in south Delhi, said that these meetings have given the party an opportunity to go in for a comprehensive election campaign.

"Through them the leaders have got an opportunity to come in touch with grass root workers and when our workers will meet voters face to face the party will gain strength," he added.
