Delhi assembly poll: BJP targets 2,000 rallies by Delhi December 20
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up to achieve the target to hold 2,000 rallies by December 20 in the national capital. In over two-and-a-half week’s time, the party has already held about 1,000 rallies where in MPs participated. To reach the target mark, the Delhi unit has hurried up organising rallies across constituencies.
According to the trends, the party would face crucial time to make it to the 2,000 mark in terms of number of rallies being organised. The campaign, which began on December 1, has witnessed over 60 rallies being cancelled, keeping aside the numerous controversies created by various fiery MPs.

The party, till Tuesday, was through with roughly 950 rallies. It has just three more days to go and the in-charges are pulling out all the stops to meet the target. A senior party leader said, “The schedules are prepared after the MPs confirm their availability. However, due to uncertain reasons, several rallies were cancelled in the past. However, we are trying to reach closest to the mark.”
Reviewing the party’s performance, party supremo Amit Shah on Tuesday held a meeting with its state unit cadre poll preparations in which he directed to involve around 300 of its members of Parliament.
“We are planning to hold around 300 more rallies by MPs in the remaining three days. After Decem-ber 20, we have planned a variety of new ways to campaign in the capital,” said Praveen Shankar Kapoor, media in-charge, Delhi BJP.
Meanwhile, the party’s membership drive on Tuesday reached a new high with 16 lakh supporters enrolling themselves as members of the BJP. Besides, there was intense activity in the Delhi BJP office on Tuesday as part of its poll preparations. An important meeting of the district office bearers, mandal presidents, booth managers and membership in-charges was held at the party office.
