Delhi CM :BJP leaders fight for Delhi CM's post
New Delhi: Intense lobbying is currently on in Delhi for government formation, with the Aam Aadmi Party even accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of trying to lure its MLAs with financial incentives. Sources have claimed that hectic discussions were underway within the BJP as regards government formation, and because of this the AAP has reasons to fear about its 'unity'.
Also, with clear indications that the next few days could see a BJP government in the national capital, several party leaders have already started lobbying for the CM's post – this time on social media. While they have denied any direct involvement in any such campaign, hectic lobbying was underway for them to be made CM on Facebook and through posters.
Two BJP leaders – New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi and Janakpuri-Uttam Nagar MLA Jagdish Mukhi – are in the news these days for the same reasons. As per reports, posters have been put up in the New Delhi area promoting the candidature of Lekhi for chief minister's post.
Lekhi, however, claimed ignorance about any such campaign. She told a daily that she was not aware of any such activity and that the party will decide on all such matters. Similarly, Mukhi's candidature is being promoted on Facebook through three dedicated pages - 'Jagdish Mukhi for CM', 'Dr Jagdish Mukhi for CM Delhi' and 'Prof Jagdish Mukhi For Next Delhi CM'.
Mukhi has denied any role in the campaign, claiming that he came to know about it through media reports and was trying to find out who was behind the activity.
However, the same BJP leader had earlier this month 'approved' the campaign through his remarks, when he told an English daily, “Every supporter wants that his leader should become the CM.
My supporters too have wished for the same. I cannot stop them for wishing something for me. It is their wish.” Senior BJP leaders are reported to be upset about such lobbying tactics. The developments came amid reports that the BJP was mulling to form the government in Delhi, with Mukhi, Lekhi and Badarpur MLA Rambir Singh Bidhuri among leading candidates for CM's post.
It may be noted that Dr Harsh Vardhan, who was the BJP's CM candidate in Delhi Assembly polls late last year, continues to be the leader of the legislature party in the capital despite joining the Narendra Modi Cabinet. Normally, the post of leader of the legislature party converts to the post of CM candidate.
