Aam Aadmi Party, which has created a stunning debut, is likely to form the government next week

Majority wants Aam Aadmi Party govt in Delhi: Survey

ARVIND KEJRIWAL

New Delhi: With the political deadlock continuing in Delhi, thousands of respondents to a new survey want Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to form government here.

As per the ABP News-Nielsen survey, the results of which were released on Friday, 80% of local voters in Delhi want AAP to from government.

According to the ABP News-Nielsen survey, when asked whether Arvind Kejriwal should form government in Delhi, nearly 80% supported the move while 19% opposed it.

When asked should there be re-election in Delhi, 64% respondents said no, while 33% said yes.

The survey also asked people to respond whether they will vote for Kejriwal again in the event of a re-poll? Interestingly, 64% people said they will choose AAP and Kejriwal while 28% voters said they won't.

Importantly, 74% people, who responded to the survey, had voted for AAP in the Assembly election held on December 4 in Delhi, and 64% of them said they will re-elect Kejriwal's party in re-election.

The results implied that 10% voters will reject AAP in a re-poll.

When the people were asked to share their opinion whether Kejriwal will be able to keep his promises, only 29% of them said that AAP chief will not be able to deliver what he had promised in his party's election manifesto. According to -"Zee News"

Some senior AAP members have voiced apprehension that forming the government could take up all their energy and resources, leaving them little time for the general elections. Kejriwal, however, said it would be a challenge that may throw up pleasant surprises for the fledgling party in the 2014 elections.

"I may not be able to travel as much once I assume office, but the actions of our government in Delhi will reverberate in other states, bringing greater support for AAP and its politics," he said. Asked if he is daunted by the responsibility of governing, given that most party MLAs are first-timers, Kejriwal said running an effective government needs political will.

"I have been a part of the government and have seen from close quarters how bureaucrats and politicians deliver when they wish to. It is no rocket science," he said.

Delhi is yet to get a government as it threw up a fractured mandate where BJP fell four short of majority at 32 seats and AAP came in a close second at 28. Sources-"Times Of India"
