Tamil Nadu local body polls: Delimitation to be completed by August 31

The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission informed the Madras High Court on Monday that the limit of
local bodies will be completed by August 31.

The Commission further said that if the government accepts the recommendations on the borders and
reservation of wards, the program will be issued within three months for the election.

After the elevation of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee's Supreme Court, the case was adjudged Justice
M. Sathyanarayanan and M. Sunder have been deployed before a special bench. The case will be heard
on Tuesday.

On July 30, the MHC pulled out the State Election Commission for not conducting local body elections for
two years. The first bench of the MHC found that the State Election Commission and otherofficers should
be declared guilty of contempt of court for failure to hold elections in the state.
The court had heard a contempt plea by the DMK accusing the SEC of delaying the conduct of civil elections.
