In a major setback for the ruling BJP party in Madhya Pradesh, the main opposition Congress managed to win five out of eight urban bodies.
The municipal election was held on last Tuesday (December 22) and the BJP won only three seats including Mandsour, Sehoreand Shahganj. However, in last election, the ruling party had won seven out of eight seats.
The five urban bodies where Congress emerged as winner are: Shajapur Municipal Council and city councils of Majholi, Bhedaghat, Dhamnod and Orcha.
Polls will be held at Nagar Palika Parishad, Sehore, Nagar Parishad Shahganj (Sehore district), Nagar Palika Parishad Shajapur, Nagar Palika Parishad Mandsaur, Nagar Parishad Majhauli (Sidhi district), Nagar Parishad Dhamod (Ratlam district), Nagar Parishad Orchha (Tikamgarh district), Nagar Parishad Bhedaghat (Jabalpur district) and District panchayat Anuppur on December 22," R Parshuram said.
