Preparations for the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Madhya Pradesh president and members of the National Council have been completed.
BJP State organisational election officer Ajay Pratap Singh in a statement here on Sunday informed that all the preparations for the election of State president and members of the National Council have been completed. “Electoral college, parliamentarians, legislators and important leaders of the party have been informed about the election programme,” Singh said.

Singh further said that the senior party leader Ramdas Agarwal would reach here as central observer in the afternoon of Monday January 4. Nomination papers would be accepted on January 4 from 3 pm to 4 pm. Scrutiny of papers would be held from 4 pm to 4.30 pm while withdrawal of forms would be held from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm and after that the name of candidates would be announced at 5.30 pm only. If necessary then voting would be held on Tuesday January 5 at 11 am and soon after the completion of voting the result would be declared, he added.
He said that on January 5 the national vice president and organisational in-charge for the State Vinay Sahasrabuddhe would take part in the newly elected presidents’ swearing in ceremony.
The State organisational election officer informed that a total of 29 National Council members would be elected from the State, out of them 6 are reserved for Schedule Caste while 4 are reserved for Schedule Tribe.
Notably, after the completion of organisational elections in the State the formal process for election of the next BJP national president will start at any time after January 10 to ensure that the process is completed before January 23 when outgoing party president Amit Shah’s current tenure gets over. Shah took charge as BJP president in July last year after the then president Rajnath Singh joined the Modi Government as Home Minister. While the tenure of BJP chief is fixed as to three years, Shah’s current term will end in January this year as he was nominated as party president only for the rest of Singh’s term.
