Maharashtra Bye election result live: Counting of votes begins
Counting on votes for the by-elections to Bandra east assembly constituency, where Congress heavyweight Narayan Rane is taking on Shiv Sena and MIM began on Wednesday morning.
Former chief minister Rane, who lost the assembly election last year from his native Sindhudurg district in coastal Konkan, is trying to enter the legislature through the bypoll. He is pitted against Shiv Sena's Trupti Sawant, the widow of former MLA Bala Sawant. The fight has become triangular with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) putting up Rahbar Khan.

NCP wins in Maharashtra by-poll
Nationalist Congress Party candidate Suman Patil was elected to the Maharashtra assembly in the by-poll from Tasgaon-Kavthemahankal constituency with a huge margin over her rebel BJP rival, officials said here on Wednesday.
Narayan Rane trails in Bandra East; NCP leading in Tasgaon
On Uttarakhand's Bhagwanpur Assembly seat, Congress' Mamta Rakesh leads leaving behind BJP's Rajpal Singh.
The officials said after the first round of vote count, Trupti Sawant bagged 2559 votes ahead of Rane's 1512 votes. MIM's Rehbar Siraj Khan is far behind with just 295 vote.
In second round, Trupti Sawant bagged a total of 8752 votes whereas Rane and Rehbar Khan could bag just 5019 and 761 votes respectively.
The final results are expected in next few hours.
