- 81% total voter turnout recorded in West Bengal Phase 1

- West Bengal will have elections spread over six phases - the first phase will have polling on two days - today and then on April 11.
- Out of the 18 constituencies where polling is taking place in Bengal today, 13 are Maoists-affected where voting will end early at 4 pm. In the remaining five constituencies - Purulia, Manbazar, Kashipur, Para and Raghunathpur - voting will go on till 6 pm.
- As many as 40,09,171 voters will cast their votes in Bengal in the first phase which has 133 candidates in the fray.
- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called this alliance an "unholy". Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a rally in Kharagpur, had slammed the alliance saying "dosti (friendship) in Bengal and kushti (wrestling) in Kerala". All the three - the Trinamool, the Left-Congress alliance and the BJP - have fielded candidates from all 18 seats.
