Phase 1 Live Voting Updates of  West Bengal Assembly Election 2016

 

 

  1. 81% total voter turnout recorded in West Bengal Phase 1
  2. 80% turnout recorded in West Bengal till 5 PM
  3. Voting for assembly election closed in Purulia
  4. Polling concludes in 6 West Midnapore and 3 Bankura seats in ; 1 more hour to go for 9 Purulia seats
  5. 75.24% turnout recorded in West Bengal till 3 PM
  6. 63.3% turnout recorded in West Bengal till 1:30PM
  7. Voter turnout in at 1 pm: Bankura: 62.15% West Midnapore: 65.45% Purulia: 61.95% Average: 63.3%
  8. 45.32% turnout recorded in West Bengal till 12 noon

  16. West Bengal will have elections spread over six phases - the first phase will have polling on two days - today and then on April 11.
  17. Out of the 18 constituencies where polling is taking place in Bengal today, 13 are Maoists-affected where voting will end early at 4 pm. In the remaining five constituencies - Purulia, Manbazar, Kashipur, Para and Raghunathpur - voting will go on till 6 pm.
  18. As many as 40,09,171 voters will cast their votes in Bengal in the first phase which has 133 candidates in the fray.
  19. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called this alliance an "unholy". Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a rally in Kharagpur, had slammed the alliance saying "dosti (friendship) in Bengal and kushti (wrestling) in Kerala".  All the three - the Trinamool, the Left-Congress alliance and the BJP - have fielded candidates from all 18 seats.
