ABP News Opinion Poll: Mamata's TMC set for a landslide victory in West Bengal if assembly polls take place today

New Delhi: In continuation with the recent trends, Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress once again has emerged as the highest gainer, according to the latest ABP NEWS – Nielsen Opinion Poll. The recent triumph in the civic polls has boosted Mamata Banerjee and her party’s confidence.

With 36% of vote share Trinamool Congress is predicted to win 198 seats, while the Congress comes in second with 7 % vote share converting to 40 seats. Left parties landed in third place with 36 seats, while Bharatiya Janata Party bagged only 12 seas (18% vote share).

Earlier in 2011, AITC had 184 seats (38.4% vote share), while the left bagged total 60 seats (39.5 % vote share), Congress 42 seats (9.5 % vote share), others 8 and BJP failed to open its account.

Is there any development of West Bengal during Modi’s rule?

Regarding the question if there has been any development in West Bengal during the Modi’ rule at the Centre, the opinion remained mixed. 38 respondents felt the state was developed while 46% did not agree.

Mamata Banerjee’s performance

Mamata Banerjee and the AITC government in the state have been rated as above average by the people with 14 % rating her Very Good and 36% score her as Good.

Performance of AITC government over the last four years?

31 % respondents rated AITC performance as good, 9% very good and more than third rated the state govt as average.

Most popular leader in West Bengal

Mamata Banerjee emerges as the more popular leader in West Bengal as compared to others.  She is mentioned by about two thirds of the respondents as the most popular leader in the eastern state.

Modi Vs Mamata

57% of the respondents in West Bengal rated Mamata Banerjee as the most popular leader, while only 27% favoured PM Modi.

Law and order situation under Mamata’s rule

Majority of respondents surveyed in West Bengal feel that the law and order situation has improved under Mamata Banerjee’s rule.  About a fifth feel that it has infact deteriorated and 28% feel that there has been change in the law and order of West Bengal under CM Mamata.
