Siliguri, Jan 22 : Putting to rest all speculations on Congress and Trinamool Congress alliance, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said both the parties would fight the forthcoming Bengal Assembly election together.

Addressing a meeting here after inaugurating Indo-Bangla bilateral trade at Phulbari near Banglades border, Mr Mukherjee said,'' Trinamool and Congress would fight the forthcoming assembly election in Bengal together.

''The election would end the rein of Left Front government in the state as people want change,'' he added.

Mr Mukherjee held the state government responsibe for the failure of rationing system in the state saying that the government has failed to properly utilise the central fund.

Mr Mukherjee said the new initiative would promote trade not only in Siliguri, but in entire North Bengal.

Also present on the occasion were Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury and West Bengal Urban Development Minister Asok Bhattacharya.
