The Kerala Assembly Elections 2016 is scheduled on May 19 where more than 15 parties will take a litmus test for success in the south Indian state. Counting of votes for 140 seats in Kerala will be conducted on May 19.

Almost a month remaining for Kerala Assembly Elections 2016, a fresh survey conducted by C-Voter aired on television channel shows United Democratic Front (UDF) winning 53 seats, Left Democratic Front (LDF) is all set to come in power by winning 86 seats. In Kerala Assembly Elections 2016 there is a neck-to-neck battle between UDF and LDF. The C-Voter opinion polls aired by Times Now channel projects Bhartiya Janata Party winning only 1 seat.   winner of 2016 Kerala Assembly Elections.

According to Election Commission of India, there are 2.54 crore voters in Kerala for which the independent election body will set up 21,498 polling stations in 14 districts. However the census report say that the total population in Kerala is 3.34 crore.

There are several other major parties fighting in Kerala to attain single seat. In 2011, LDF backed by Communists managed to secure 68 Assembly seats, while UDF backed by Congress won 72 seats. So the fight in Kerala is between Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Ruling party: UDF has formed an alliance with — Indian National Congress (INC), Indian Union Muslim league, Kerala Congress (M), Revolutionary Socialist Party, Janata Dal (United), Kerala Congress (Jacob).

Opposition: LDF has formed an alliance with Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Janata Dal (Secular), Nationalist Congress Party, Kerala Congress (Skaria Thomas), Indian Congress (Socialist), Indian National League (INL) and two LDF supported independents.

Assembly Seats: 140

In 2011 UDF won 72 seats

Indian National Congress (INC) won 39 seats

Rajya Sabha seats: 9, out of which UDF won 4 seats

Lok Sabha seats: 20, out of which UDF won 12 seats.
