CPI(M) finalises list, Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala,Kerala Assembly Elections 2016,Communist Party of India (Marxist),Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta , Ernakulam, CPI(M),Kerala CPI(M) candidate list
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) district leadership has almost finalised its list of candidates for the 10 seats that it would contest in the district.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretariat has decided to defer finalisation of its candidate list following continuing confusion over candidates in Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam districts.
The party district committee which met here on Thursday is understood to have firmed up its proposals for the constituencies that it has contested in successive elections. Prominent among the candidates are party district secretary Kadakampally Surendran and sitting MLA V. Sivankutty. While Mr. Sivankutty would be in the fray once again in Nemom, Mr. Surendran would contest Kazhakuttam. Both the constituencies would witness strong three-cornered contests with the BJP planning to field veteran leader O. Rajagopal in Nemom and its former State president V. Muraleedharan in Kazhakuttam.
The other candidates being proposed by the district committee are V. Joy (Varkala), A.A. Rashid (Aruvikkara), K.A. Ansalan (Neyyattinkara), C.K. Hareendran (Parassala), I.B. Satheesh (Kattakkada), T.N. Seema (Vattiyurkavu), D.K. Murali (Vamanapuram) and B. Sathyan (Attingal). The list is expected to be approved by the CPI(M) State secretariat meeting to be held here on Sunday.
The CPI(M) district committee meeting witnessed some strong criticism against the district leadership by members who felt that either party State secretariat member Anathalavattom Anandan or Kadakampally Surendran should be fielded in Varkala. Some of them took exception to the State leadership’s decision to keep Mr. Anandan out of the fray. Keeping out leaders of class and mass organisations from the fray would prove counterproductive in the long run, they contended.
