CPM prepared a draft list of candidates in Palakkad, Kerala CPM Draft list, Kerala Polls, Kerala Assembly Polls 2016,Kerala Candidates,CPM Candidates
Palakkad: The Palakkad district secretariat of the CPM has prepared a draft list of candidates excluding most of the sitting MLAs. Four sitting MLAs have failed to find place in the list, prepared following the direction that those who have contested elections twice should not be considered.
Former minister A K Balan, Alathoor MLA M Chandran, Ottappalam MLA M Hamsa, and Shoranur MLA K S Saleekha have not found place in the draft list. The district secretariat has decided to give opportunity to newcomers.
K D Prasenan and P K Sasi are the lone candidates proposed by the district secretariat for Alathoor and Ottappalam, respectively. Ponnukkuttan has been proposed for the Tharoor seat, which is currently represented by A K Balan. There are disagreements over Shoranur seat. While section argued for a woman candidate, the other section demanded that M R Murali or P K Sudhakaran should be considered for the seat. If it is a woman, Subaida Isahakh will be the candidate.
In Thrithala, where the CPM lost last time, either DYFI state secretary M Swaraj or district secretary Premkumar will be the candidate. No candidate was proposed for Malampuzha seat based on the assumption that V S Achuthanandan may contest from there.
For Palakkad constituency, either former MP N N Krishnadas or K K Divakaran will be selected. Sitting MLA V Chenthamarakshan and K Babu have been proposed for Nenmara. K V Vijayadas, who won from Kongad by a slight majority last time, will retain the seat.
