Kozhikode Municipal Corporation, Kozhikode District Panchayat polls, Left Democratic Front (LDF), CPI(M), CPI(M) announces candidate  list, Kozhikode Municipal Corporation, LDF candidates list , Kozhikode Municipal Corporation election

Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidates contesting the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation and the Kozhikode District Panchayat will file their nominations on October 14.

CPI(M) district secretary P. Mohanan told reporters here on Sunday that the party State secretary, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, would inaugurate a public convention at Muthalakkulam Grounds on October 14, where all the LDF candidates would be presented before the voters. The election manifesto of the party, formulated by accepting suggestions from the public, would also be released at the convention. The LDF election committee would also be formed on the occasion, he said.

The CPI(M) is fielding candidates in 60 seats to the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation which has 75 wards. The CPI, the NCP and the JD(S) will field six, four and three candidates respectively while the INL, which formed an alliance with the LDF, and the Congress (S) will have one seat each. Thirty eight seats are reserved for women this year.

CPI(M) announces list

A list of 45 CPI(M) candidates was announced on Sunday. Former Mayors Thottathil Ravindran, M.M. Padmavathi and former MLA V.K.C. Mammad Koya are some of the prominent candidates.

The Deputy Mayor post is reserved for women. M. Radhakrishnan, the present Welfare Standing Committee chairman of the corporation, is one of the only seven council members who are getting yet another chance to contest. The others are M. Sreeja Harish, Kattadath Hajira, K. Sini, Meera Darshak, K. Nisha and K.V. Baburaj.

Development Standing Committee chairperson Anita Rajan will be contesting from Parayancheri as NCP candidate. The other NCP candidates are M.P. Padmanabhan, Shobhana Kattari and Baby Vasan. The CPI is fielding P.K. Nasar, Asha Sasankan, K. Shilpa and Mohammed Basheer Manalodi. The CPI will announce the name of one more candidate. Sports journalist Bhasi Malapparambu is contesting as a CPI-supported independent candidate from Paroppadi.

The LDF refused to name a Mayor candidate. The complete list of candidates will be announced on Monday.
