Elections to the 17 newly upgraded Town Panchayats and Town Municipalities, 6 Gram Panchayats and by-elections to 45 wards under 19 GPs will be held during this month, the schedule for which the State Election Commission announced recently.

Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer N. Jayaram said here on Monday that polling for 13 Town Panchayats and 4 Town Municipalities will be held on April 24. The nomination process will be on from April 5 to 12. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on April 12 and the last day for withdrawal is April 15. If necessitated, re-polling will be conducted on April 26. Counting of votes would be taken up at respective Town Panchayat headquarters on April 27.
By-polls will be held to Varkodu-1 and Varkodu-2 in Mysuru taluk, Makanapura-3 in Nanjangud taluk, Halavara, Horalahalli and Shettahalli in T Narsipur taluk, Habbanakuppe, Biligere, Devarahalli and two seats in Agrahara of Hunsur taluk, Haliyuru, Hosuru Kalahalli, Goragundi and Hebbal in K.R. Nagar taluk.
The new Town Municipalities upgraded from the existing Gram Panchayats going to polls are Harugeri, Mugalkhod, Munavalli and Ugarkhurd.
The new Town Panchayats are M.K. Hubbali, Kankanwadi, Naganur, Examba, Channammana Kittur, Mallapur P.G., Arabhavi, Inapur, Shedbal, Chinchli, Borgaon, Kallolli and Kabbur.
Polling for all the 96 wards under 6 GPs and 45 vacant seats under 19 GPs (total 141 wards) will be held on April 17, nomination process for which commenced on Monday. The last date for filing nomination is April 6. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on April 7 and the last date for withdrawal is April 9. Re-polling will be held on April 18 if necessitated and the counting of votes would be taken up on April 20.
