BJP aspirants elected as Mayor, Deputy Mayor,Karnataka Mayor election,Karnataka latest election result, Belagavi, Manjula Akkur , Lakshmi Uppar
Manjula Akkur and Lakshmi Uppar of the BJP were elected for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively here on Tuesday.
Belagavi Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram conducted the election process and declared the result. Their election was unanimous as they were the lone contenders, in absence of other nomination papers. While Ms. Akkur was elected from Ward No. 22 of Dharwad, Ms. Uppar represents Ward No. 34 of Hubballi.
A total of 77 elected representatives including 67 councillors, nine legislators and one MP were present. Janata Dal (S) councillors Ishwar Sanikoppa, Santosh Hirekerur and Faimida Killedar, Congress MLC Srinivas Mane and JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti abstained from the election process. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar, BJP State president Pralhad Joshi and others were present.
