Indo-Pak ties are likely to see brighter days as Pak High Commissioner says “Achey Din Aney Waley Hai”
Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul basit on Tuesday said that “Achey Din Aarahey Hai” for bilateral ties with India and expressed hope that the process of granting non-discriminatory market access to the country will begin after the resumption of talks between the two. "Let the bilateral engagement resume. Our two Prime Ministers have met and all the issues were discussed and we hope that those things will be carried forward when the time comes. he said
MEP imposed by Government on onion exports to control price rise
Rising Onion rates, bothers the union government as on Tuesday imposed a minimum export price (MEP) of USD 300 per tonne on the kitchen staple to curb overseas sales and check retail prices. Onion prices have risen to about Rs 25-30 per kg in the national capital from Rs 15-20 per kg a fortnight ago. The Minimum Export Price (MEP) which is the rate below which no exports are allowed, has been re-introduced barely three months after the previous government in March had abolished it.
Modi Government likely to present its budget on July 7
Parliament is likely to be convened from July 7 for budget session and may go on for a month. Sources said that the session may last till August 6. Cabinet may consider finalizing the schedule at its meeting on Wednesday. During its first session, the pre-budget economic survey, the railway budget and the General Budget are expected to be tabled in Parliament. The Modi government, which faces the inflation challenge, has said that it will present a good, not just a populist budget. Nirmala Sitharaman said that although the NDA government has a lot of challenges that lie ahead of it and needs to promptly deal with issues of inflation and price rise that is plaguing the nation, they will live up to the promises made in their manifesto. While the railway fares are likely to go up, the NDA is likely to increase tax exemption limit from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
MoS Nihal Chand should be removed over alleged rape case pressure mounts on Modi
Pressure is mounting on the BJP as a woman who has alleged she was sexually assaulted by Union Minister of State Nihal Chand three years ago, has called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove him from the Cabinet. Meanwhile Mahila Congress staged protest against Nihal Chand at the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday. "Nihal Chand must resign on moral grounds. Modi promised security for women during polls and also zero tolrence towards crime against women, we want to ask him is this the zero tolerance that he was talking about. Meanwhile woman, who claims she was sexually assaulted by Union Minister, has asked Prime Minister to sack him. She claims she is receiving threats and that she was promised a job in return for withdrawing the case. While speaking to media, the woman said she will try to meet Modi and request him to remove Nihal Chand from his Cabinet and get her justice.
