Modi likely to bring Lokpal in place by this Independence Day: Reports
Narendra Modi government is mulling changes in the Lokpal Act. Government sources said that the Department of Personnel and Training is making changes in the rules on the mandate of the Lokpal search committee. Modi government plans to empower the search committee by including people from outside the list provided by the DoPT. The aim is to bring Lokpal in place by August 15, 2014, say. PMO has begun the drill by asking three Judges for their consent. Reports added

Despite MoS and former Army chief General (retired) VK Singh expressing his strong displeasure over the appointment of Lieutenant General Dalbir Singh Suhag as the next Army Chief, the Narendra Modi government has decided to stand by the previous UPA government's decision to promote the officer to lead the 1.13 million strong Indian Army.
