About the Constituency: Known for being the educational hub of Andhra Pradesh, the Guntur district comprises the Guntur parliamentary constituency. As one of the 42 Lok Sabha seats which represent the state of Andhra Pradesh in the Lower House of the Indian Parliament, the Guntur constituency has remained with the Congress from the early decades of the 20th century of post-Independence era. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Guntur Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 31) were 1,365,177 of which 694,586 are females and 670,591 are males.
