Arvind Kejriwal to file nomination on Wednesday
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who was due to file his nomination papers for the Delhi Assembly polls, will now be submitting the papers on Wednesday. Apparently, the AAP chief could not file his nomination as he got delayed due to his roadshow in the national capital.
However, there are also reports that Kejriwal delayed his nomination process to let it coincide with Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi. Bedi will be filing her papers for the Krishna Nagar seat on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day he stepped up attack on BJP, calling it a "machine of lies". He exuded confidence that the people of Delhi will script history by electing AAP in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The AAP leader made the remarks during a road show, attended by boisterous party volunteers and supporters, ahead of filing his nomination papers. "Delhiites will script history by giving AAP the single largest majority as they want to convert those 49-days of good governance into five years," Kejriwal said.
Like Kejriwal, Bedi will hold a roadshow in Delhi on Wednesday. Thereafter, she will file her nomination papers from Krishna Nagar constituency of East Delhi, which is BJP's stronghold. "Kiran Bedi will file her nomination tomorrow," said a senior BJP leader. Wednesday is the last day to file nomination papers for the elections.
Tomorrow will be a hectic day for electoral officials with several senior leaders including Congress's Ajay Maken, filing their nomination papers. Scrutiny of nominations papers would be done on January 22 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 24. The election results would be declared on February 10.
