Haryana assembly polls: BJP confident over Modi factor or turncoat leaders?
As Haryana assembly polls are approaching later this year, it seems that BJP is going to have an edge over Congress and other political parties. As per report, the BJP that won 7 out of 10 seats in this year's Lok Sabha polls is having more chances not because of Modi factor, but from the effect of turncoat politicians.
Before the Lok Sabha polls former Congress leaders like prominent Ahir (Yadav) community leader Rao Inderjit Singh, jat leader Dharambir Singh and Brahmin leader Ramesh Kaushik joined the BJP and strengthened party's prospects. Rao Injerjit Singh represents Gurgaon and is a Minister of State in the Modi government and Dharambir Singh has been an MLA from Sohna. Last month, Hooda's cousin and Congress leader Chaudhary Birender Singh also joined BJP.

He will address a rally on August 18, which will be attended by the party's national president Amit Shah. Presently, a member of Rajya Sabha, Birender was once known to be close to the former and late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. With its latest triumph in the recent Lok Sabha elections, it has set its eyes on going it alone in the state assembly polls late this year and win it too, with no mood to hang on to the crutches of other parties.
The BJP leadership is feeling confident that the party, for the first time, it can form the government on its own in the state. At least four union ministers - Sushma Swaraj, Rao Inderjit Singh, Gen. VK Singh and Krishan Pal Gujjar - are from Haryana, that will be an added advantage.
There are total 90 assembly seats in Haryana, out of which eight lies in NCR region- 4 in Gurgaon and 4 in Faridabad. Sources say that INLD and BJP will contest assembly polls alone, but in case, if there is a need for both parties to come together in the post-poll scenario, then they will jointly form the government.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who assumed office in March 2005 and again scraped through in the October 2009 assembly polls after roping in independents and HJC defectors, faces a tough test as the BJP would give the Congress party a tough fight. Hooda is also accused of only selective development in Sonepat, Jhajjar and Rohtak.
